I don't know if anyone else has noticed it or not, but there seems to be alot of threads or posts appearing recently casting doubt upon the validity of the Bible.

Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just my imagination?

If there is anyone who is unsure whether or not they can trust the Bible, I want to encourage you to ask God to give you the belief you need. For knowing God and the Bible are the only two things that will give us protection from the deceptions of Satan. Please I beg you, don't give up on the Bible yet, let God show you how trustworthy it is.

I don't agree with the OP on this one.

If someone thinks that parts of the Bible are difficult to believe, then fine.

Believe in the parts you want to. That is the important thing.
Please, don't try to swallow the parts that confuse you.
If you do, you will have LESS Faith in the rest.

Then, with time, you may believe in some of those parts you can't make sense of now.
This will be good. It's called growth.

To me it seems recently that a lot of posts in the Christian Only section are not being started by or responded to by people that the rules would allow to even post in this section. Am not sure they have enough volunteers to police all this.

If you see an "illegal" Post, it is your duty -- as a member of this Forum -- to "report" it.
I certainly do my part, to preserve the integrity of this Forum. When I see it, I click on that REPORT button.
If you will help us out, then we WILL "have enough volunteers to police all this."

The Lord died and rose for us - the "bible" didn't . Neither the validity nor the accuracy of the "bible" saves anyone . Trust in the Lord - not in paper and ink .

Yes, people are questioning the Bible and holding up religious rituals and traditions as equivalent to it.
Others are posting supposed contradictions.
The Bible is what tells us about Jesus. Jesus said the law and prophets and psalms tell about Him. He fulfills scripture.
If you throw out the Bible, what are we left with?
We're left with a "believe what you want to believe, it's all good" way of thinking. Or, "come over to our religion, we are the only truth there is"....

It's dangerous and it's shocking!

I've been a Christian for a LOT of years, and have NOT believed in inerancy/infallibility of the Bible for my entire Christian experience. That doesn't mean that I don't read it, it doesn't mean that God doesn't use it in my life, it doesn't mean that I throw it out. I'm still Christian, I have a solid relationship with God, I haven't doubted everything, I haven't drifted off on my own. Doubting that the Bible is inerrant/infallible does NOT have to mean doubting God.

I believe in the inerrancy of the bible. I do not believe that the bible is the end all be all tool of the Christian faith. I think many people place way more emphasis on the bible than they do in prayer or action.

Christ never promised us the bible after He left. He did promise to send the Holy Spirit. He did say that when two or more are gathered in His name, He would be there.

Now, to those who will say I'm a heretic, well, so does my wife :). But I do believe that the Spirit directed the Church to compile the bible as a means of keeping the oral tradition alive.

Personally, I believe that many who take the OT as literal historic record will run into trouble. It is obvious, upon study, that it does carry forward ancient oral tradition.

The Bible is our guide to salvation and spiritual connectivity with our Creator and with Jesus, but I think too many people mistakenly treat it as a history book, and that causes problems.

One can be a Christian and also believe the Bible has errors in it and parables which we now popularly take to have been literal historic events. It is, afterall, a work of man, and what has man ever put his hand to that hasn't been messed up in some form?

Take care and God bless! :crossrc:

I don't think I explained myself properly.

I never said that knowing the Bible was a means of Salvation. Only accepting Christ as our Saviour will save us.

I never said the Bible and knowing God was the bottom line of Christianity. As someone posted James 1 and another pointed out prayer and action.

What I am saying is that our only line of defence against the deceptions Satan is casting upon us is to be rooted in the Bible. When Jesus was tempted in the desert (Matt 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13) how did Jesus respond?

2 Cor 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

Rev 13:11 Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon... 13 And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. 14 Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth.

Satan is allowed to perform signs and wonders. He pretends to be from God when he is not. The Bible reveals how God works and how to tell the difference. When you know God, he is also able to back up what the Bible says and through the Holy Spirit give you discernment to tell the difference.

Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect--if that were possible

When I say you need to know God, its more than just knowing about him. Its a personal relationship with him. That includes prayer. For how can you know someone you barely talk to or listen to them? We also need to be open to "hearing" from God.

John 10:1-18 says that Jesus knows who are his and his "sheep" know him. They will hear his voice and follow only him. That is the sort of thing I am talking about.

You know, it seems that the Bible just assumes it's readers will not demand emperical proof for a lot of it's statements. When that proof does come in from the secular side, it feels so good!

What if when I asked God I was told to not put my trust in a translation of human creation?
