  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are any of you all here planning on making your own Valentine cards? I am working on making my own Valentine cards for my parents. I went to stores and looked at their cards for inspiration. My mom wrote down what one card said. She really liked it. I am drawing roses on cardstock paper, where my mom wrote the message in pen on the inside. I will color the roses with colored pencils. I have some books on roses that have beautiful pictures of roses for me to copy. Some are art books but others are gardening books. I want to draw a bunch of Valentine art, Valentine princesses in pretty dresses with roses and hearts of them, in pink and red. Hearts and cupids, Valentine angels. I tried drawing an angel of love, she never turns out right. I like flowers, Valentine's day is a good excuse to draw roses.

That sounds like a neat idea. But I probably will end up just buying cards for my parents, grandmother & brother. I used to make cards from cut-outs online & personalize them when I was money-less. This time though, since I have a job, I think I'll buy each of them a present & buy each a nice card. Thanks for reminding me about Valentine's though! Almost forgot about it lol

I like Victorian and vintage valentine cards. I like Victorian stuff. That is when things started to get commercial, greeting cards were first invented, and art began to get mass-produced. I try drawing in that style but it is hard. Sometimes I go for realism other times I make my pictures of people and animals look cartoony, but still nice. Sometimes Valentine's day upsets me becasue I don't have a boyfriend or date. Well, try to focus on the postitive side, and ignore that fact. I'd like to make friends, and talk to friends. Maybe good friends are better than a boyfriend. My mom says it is better to have no man than to have a bad man. Why not focus on God's love for Valentine's Day, after all Christ's love is the best!
