I want to say something right now, about the difference between prejudices and racism. We all have prejudices. I personally like Filipino women over American women. We all tend to like those who are more like us, and be distrustful of those who are less like us. We have choices in foods we eat, clothes we wear, etc. I don't like, for the most part, people with tattoos. That said, one of my best friends is covered in tattoos. He, and I, overcame those-he proved himself to me to be just a regular guy. I swallowed my dislike. Prejudices can be overcome, racism normally can't. I was, as a child growing up in the deep South, prejudiced against black people. I was a victim of affirmative action in reverse-the business owner told me he had to hire a black person for the job because of labor laws. I told jokes about black people, Jews, Italians, Irish, and so on. I didn't know any better. All my life I have worked with black people and other people of color, and always gotten along. Still, most of my friends are not black. Most are either Filipino or white. Yes, I still have prejudices, but they aren't the same as racism. Perjudice is a judgement based on the way someone looks or acts. I can say I've seen prejudice in Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Corey Booker, and on down the line. WE ALL have prejudices. If we choose to mistreat people based on their color or sex, this is a sin in God's eyes. To me that's racism. The word is thrown about too often these days.
