I'm just confused because you said they would need more of the numbing drug. If they had a higher tolerance, couldn't they get by with less of the drug?

If you need more more pain meds then you have a higher tolerance for pain meds not for pain. A higher tolerance of pain means you wouldn't need much pain meds because you can deal with the pain.

I learned that cats live in a constant state of dehydration because they are originally from the desert or very dry climates so that's why their poop is very solid and their urine is very concentrated so as to conserve internal moisture.

This must be why their urine smells worse than dog urine. Lots of ammonia in that stuff.

When I was a kid, we had "outside cats", so I can't sympathize. If it's any consolation, dog feces smells worse than cat feces. Life comes with many trade offs.
