Thanks for the reply, Ron.There are roughly 3-5 items rolling off the list every day, not 2 a week. However, for the most part they are transparent to our members, at least initially. Issues such as trashed thread pruning, xml downloads, and eban softdelete and indexing are for the most part transparent to our members... but are critical on the back end. We know this has to be balanced with visible progress to the membership, thus we are trying to hit a couple visible items a week. The back end work by far is the most time consuming, and as it gets completed, the front end work will scroll off at a much faster rate.
Actually, were putting more priority on the backend, as a few issues cropped up which needed to be addressed. Thus these is not so much to communicate, but if anything we're beyond the initial learning curve, and things are really flying.
I don't know his age (I doubt he is a teenager), but tech wise, in comparison to many of the coders on vb.org, I'd say he is in the top 5%. There are many hacker types, and others who talk up a good game, and then create unmaintainable and/or very inefficient code, and/or can't hit a target date worth a hoot. What I've seen so far, I've been very impressed with. We're in good hands.
The major items being worked on are very complex and have taken some logging to get all the required information in order to work on them further. While we plan, or collect info for these large items, several small items are fixed throughout the day. I am in constant communication with the staff here - either asking for more details on how something should work, or asking for help testing.
I am 20, and easily one of the most experienced vB. specialists around (if not the most). The "delay", as you call it, is just due to the enourmous volume of tasks on the list. If you are only watching 2 tasks, and I have 300 to do, you won't see that I complete 30 unless they are part of that 2 you are watching. Is it true that Sir Adrian is a teenager? Just curious, if that's true, how much lack of experience is figuring in to the delays.
Trust me - things are progressing quickly, and unfortunately, we have been doing a lot of backtracking fixing things that should have been done properly the first time around.
