  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want to share what God has revealed regarding the New Covevant.

There is much to talk about so I'll just touch on it a bit. I pray you will be set free and blessed.

To me it's all very simple.

God created Adam and Eve very good but in the fall they, along with all mankind,
began the downward spiral of corruption. It came to the point that God was sorry
that He made man because their thoughts were now evil continually.

God wants us to hear and obey Him as obedient children. What parent wouldn't
want that?

Under the old covenant the Ten Commandments were given to control the actions of
man.

The Ten Commandments carried a harsh consequence for breaking them. This brought
fear upon the people to be obedient to them, at least outwardly.

Outward obedience is good but God is concerned with the heart. God is looking
for a people to obey Him from the heart, not for fear of death or punishment.

The ministry of stone, regarding the Ten Commandments, was meant to bring life
but instead they brought death. Why is this? Because the curse of the law, which
followed the law on stone because of sin.

Sin brings about the curse of death from the law. It's not the law that brings
the death, but rather, the sin.

Under the New Covenant Jesus took the curse away when He became sin and died on
the cross. He did not take the law away for the law is holy and good, He took
away the sin.

The law brings liberty to mankind. Without the law this world would be in total
chaos. Life without law brings destruction and bondage of all kinds of
wickedness.

Once Jesus did away with the curse He freed us from the grip of the law, in
other words, the law is no longer a threat to us who are in Christ. This frees
us up to obey the law from our own free will because we love and appreciate what
God has done for us through His Son. In this, God is writing the law on our
hearts, in other words, we are not obeying the law out of fear of death or
punishment, but rather, we are obeying from the heart because of love and
graditude, this is the New Covenant. God frees us from the grip of the law
because of sin to allow us to freely obey the law because of love. In this, the
law goes from stone to the heart.

Hebrews 8:10-13 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel: After those days,'' says the Lord, "I will put My laws in their mind and
write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My
people. "None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying,
`Know the Lord,' for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest
of them. "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and
their lawless deeds I will remember no more.'' In that He says, "A new
covenant,'' He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and
growing old is ready to vanish away.

The Ten Commandments are the foundation of love for God and love for neighbor.
The first four teaches us how to love God and the last six teaches us how to
love others.

Religious man has no problem keeping the last six because in doing so he can
receive glory but when we keep the first four, God and God alone receives the
glory and Satan knows this. This is why you find all the confusion in the
religious world when it comes to the first four.

The Ten Commandmensts are not to be a rigid law of bondage, but rather, the
Spirit of God impresses us to live by them through love. Jesus brought this
understanding to us in His life and in His teachings. He showed us that keeping
the law for the sake of keeping the law was not what God was looking for. God is
looking for a people to love Him and to love each other in which this love is
manifested through keeping the law. In this, Jesus was magnifying the law and
bringing honor to it.

Isaiah 42:1 "Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul
delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the
Gentiles.
Isaiah 42:21 The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness' sake; He will
magnify the law and make it honorable.

The Ten Commandments are never done away with or changed under the New Covenant.
What does happen under the New Covenant is that our relationship to the Ten
Commandments changes. They go from a ministry of death and condemnation because
of sin to a ministry joy and blessedness because of Christ's righteousness in
us.

All of the Ten Commandments are a blessing to the man born of God. It's the
carnal man that has the problem with God's law. All of God's Ten Commandments
become a joy to the man of God because they please God and bring liberty to all.

Some will say that the foruth commandment no longer needs to be remembered but I
say that is false. The fourth commandment is part of the ten on stone and is
holy and good, which are the same that we obey from the heart.

God has sanctified and blessed the seventh day even before sin was in the world.
Remembering to keep this day holy is a witness to the entire lost world as to
which God you serve. God has protected the seventh day from all the false
religions of the world. These religions keep Friday or Sunday because God has
set apart the seventh day for His people.

Rememering to kepp the seventh holy is showing loyalty to your God. Remembering
to keep the seventh day holy is obedience to God. Keeping the seventh day holy
opens the door for God to bless us.

Isaiah 58:13-4 "If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your
own pleasure on My holy day, And call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the
Lord honorable, and shall honor it, desisting from your own ways, from seeking
your own pleasure, and speaking your own word, Then you will take delight in the
Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; and I will feed you
with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

If, because of the Sabbath, you do these things God is open to freely bless.

To do away with the Sabbath is to bring loss to God's people.

So in a nut shell.

Under the New Covanent God forgives us of our sin through Christ, which does
away with the guilt and condemnation brought upon us by the law because of sin.
Then He writes that same law on our heart, in other words, the appreciation and
love of God dwelling in us will cuase us to obey out of our own free will, in
this, the law becomes written on our heart.

Bless God and yourself by keeping all of His commandments...

Here's a good way to understand the old covenant law:

Because the law is 'lamp to our feet', and a 'guide to our way' we can assume we are on a journey, Now imagine a person on this trip walking through a village that lies in his path. According to the old covenant law he would:

Keep his hands in his pockets, lest he steal.

Wear blinders, lest he look and covet.

Keep silent, lest he lie, or curse his parents.

Leave his staff, lest he murder.

Avoid personal contact, lest he commit adultery.

Having successfully navigated through the village he could raise his prayer to God saying, "Thank you father, for keeping me righteous through this trial."

Under the old covenant the Ten Commandments were given to control the actions of man.

The problem with your writing here is that the ten commandments ARE NOT... repeat... ARE NOT the Old Covenant. The law is a major part of the New Covenant, and ARE NOT the Old Covenant. The law was added to the Abrahamic Covenant (Old Covenant);

Gal 3:19
Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

God Bless!

The law was added because of transgressions, in other words, people were doing these sinful things before the law was given to point out their sins. This tells me that the Ten Commandments were being violated before they were written on stone and that the stone was just to point them out. Even to this day they still do that very same job of pointing out sin.

k4c,

Again, my point would be that the Old Covenant is the "PROMISE MADE", and therefore is not the law. The "PROMISE MADE" spoken of here is the Old Covenant promise made to Abraham, the promise that was 430 years before the law.

Do you agree?

God Bless!

The 15th chapter of Acts starts by immediately identifying the problem:

ACTS 15:1 And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, "Unless you are circumcised according to the custom [ethei] of Moses, you cannot be saved." (NKJV)

Hi ddub85
Im just beginning to look into "covenant" scriptures so if you see where im off base please correct me.

GENESIS 26 [3] Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, AND UNTO THY SEED, I will give all these countries, and I WILL PERFORM THE OATH WHICH I SWARE UNTO ABRAHAM thy father; [4] And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; [5] BECAUSE THAT ABRAHAM OBEYED MY VOICE, and kept my charge, MY COMMANDMENTS, my statutes, and MY LAWS.

Keep in mind why Abe recieved this promise by faith. Because that... Do we attain our faith today just as Abraham did?

ROMANS 4 [13] For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. [14] For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: [15] Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. [16] Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

The “many” will use the above scripture to make the claim that Gods law has been done away with. Does this scripture say that? Nope. Simply says that the promise to Abe and to all his seed is not being kept by the keeping of the law but by faith.

ROMANS 2 [12] For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; [13] (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but THE DOERS OF THE LAW SHALL BE JUSTIFIED.

ROMANS 3 [30] Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. [31] DO WE THEN MAKE VOID THE LAW THROUGH FAITH? GOD FORBID: yea, we establish the law.

The two scriptures above are also found in Romans and are crystal clear. We are to be trying to keep Gods law even though the promise is through faith. Remember, Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

GALATIANS 3 [21] Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. [22] But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. [23] But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. [24] Wherefore THE LAW WAS OUR SCHOOLMASTER TO BRING US UNTO CHRIST, that we might be justified by faith. [25] But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. [26] For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. [27] For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. [28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

My question is, have any of you who claim to be justified by faith, and of Abrahams seed according to the promise, been first to the schoolmaster (the law)? But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. How did you attain the faith you claim? Had you been trying to keep Gods ten commandments (including sabbath) as the scripture above states or do you think there is another way? The pulpiteers of the “many” claim you need not keep Gods ten commandments cause you got faith. The scriptures claim you wont get this faith unless you are first keeping the commandments (Gods law). So who is right? The WORD or the pulpiteers.

Today a there are not many who have been under the school master to even understand what they are suppose to do. First you must be under the school master to even be brought to unto Christ.. that then they can be justified by faith. Sure after faith comes then we would be under the school master because we have learn the walk, practiced the walk, and now can walk by faith in Him. First comes conviction... and you can only get that from the law...

Psalm 19:7
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple

Psalm 51:13
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee

Mark 4:12
That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them

Luke 22:32
But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
