• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does obsessing make it hard for you to understand the bible? Ill give a quick example (this thread isnt about the example, but just a way of explaning what i mean) I noticed that some Christians believe God loves everyone, I also noticed that some Christian believe God dosen't love everyone. For me as much as i seem to research and think about thingss, its hard for me to come to an answer that would have me believe a certain doctrine, this usually leads me to sitting in the middle (not picking either side) and this in it of it self causes problems for me. Does anyone else have this problem? what helps you move from not being on either side to picking one that you believe to be true?

Read scripture for yourself and trust that God will show you the way in truth. Don't go looking for doctrine or two sides of a story. God will open your eyes to truth in scripture. And usually you can tell what doctrine is fake. Scripture says what it says, and nothing needs interpreted except for parables and prophecy. The easiest way to determine false doctrine is to look hard to find the one that twists the words of scripture, or to find other scripture that outright contradicts that said doctrine. False doctrine usually involves selfish mostives or disbelief. There are people who have created a god that would never send anyone to hell. They take hell right out of the equation because they don't "want" to believe in it. But that doesn't mean hell doesn't exist.

Yes I do this. This is why I gave up on Chruch but I'm going back because it's starting to renforce my social anxiety and I need fellowship. But ya I get caught in the trap of reading something in the bible and I don't quite get it then I'll wake up in the middle of the night and Bam I got it.

Thanks, I like your point on not looking at just two sides, as both could be wrong.
