  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Welcome Newbie!!

Off the top of my head, I would say:

Jim Caviezel (not just for The Passion - but for "Frequency", "I am David", etc)
Colin Firth (my fave Brit!)
John C. Reilly (Mr. Cellophane!)

Actresses?
Toni Collette (always loved her - Muriel's Wedding, The Sixth Sense, About a Boy, etc)
Alison Lohman (phenomenal in White Oleander)

1 Maggie Gyllenhaul

I loved Maggie's performance in Mona Lisa Smile, but hadn't seen her before this or since. Is Jake Gyllenhaul her brother? He was so good in October Sky.

I think that Laura Dern is not given the rating she deserves although she was nominated for an academy award some years back. And another great actress who has been around for years is her mother, Diane Ladd. Loved Diane in everything I have ever seen her in. She even had a small part in Chinatown years ago and was wonderful in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. And, of course, you can guess I would think of Laura's father, Bruce Dern too. He was great in Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte, The Great Gatsby, and Coming Home. All three of these talented folks received oscar nominations:...Bruce for Coming Home... Diane for Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore... and Laura for Rambling Rose. I loved Laura in October Sky and Fat Man, Little Boy. Or, movie buffs, was that Little Boy, Fat Man? [The one about the Manhattan project during the last of W.W.II...the making of the A-Bomb. That movie also starred Paul Newman and John Cusack. Laura played a project nurse and has some tough scenes when her boyfriend gets radiation poisoning. ] She was great.

William H.Macy is underated

 I'll add my vote on that one as well. My son & I loved him in "Door to Door" - the true story of a salesman born with cerebral palsy. One of the funniest, & most INSPIRATIONAL stories I've ever seen. William H. Macy did an outstanding job playing a real-life character with this type of "challenge", & truly gave deep respect & dignity to this man - who is still alive, too! :)

William H. Macy rocks.

I loved him on TV in "Once and Again" too! "A Walk to Remember" was really good. I rented it recently after I read about it on this forum. But, wow, it was really a  . You are right though, he is underated...

Eric Bana

An Australian comedian mentioned by an American on an international forum? Thought I'd never see that.

My favourite underrated actors:
  • William Sadler - Was in "Die Hard 2", played the Grim Reaper in "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey", played Heywood in "the Shawshank Redemption".
  • Gary Oldman is a slightly better known underrated actor - Leuitenant Gordon in "Batman Begins", badguy in "the Fifth Element".
  • Pete Postlethwaite - "In the Name of the Father". "The Usual Suspects".
  • Tim Roth - "Rob Roy" and "Resevior Dogs".
  • Gary Sinise - "Apollo 13", "Ransom", "Forrest Gump".
  • Mark Hamill - "Star Wars" and the voice of the Joker in "Batman: The Animated Series".
  • James Whitmore - Brooks in "the Shawshank Redemption".
  • Tim Robbins - Andy in "the Shawshank Redemption", "Austin Powers" as the president of the US, and he directed, produced, and wrote the script for "Dead Man Walking".
