  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well that is definitely statutory rape and it's terrible. Now, if you had say a nineteen year old guy and a seventeen year old girl, if they are in a serious relationship they should wait until they're married to have sex anyway.
Yes, I agree.

Speaking of MARRIAGE. Here are just a few states were it is legal to marry being underage {with parental consent}

Alabama: age 14
Alaska: age 16
Hawaii: age 15
Kansas: age 12!!!!{for girls} age 14 for boys. Ummm, what the heck?
Mississipi: NO AGE LIMIT.
New Hampshire: 13 {for girls} 14{for boys}

These are the extremes, but you get the picture. Have a nice day everybody..

Im in complete agreement with you, it is sick, and nasty, and I cant believe that the government allows states to have limits like that.

Is it wrong for you to have under-age sex with children? Even if your 18, and the girl is 17? What are your views/beliefs on this?

Well, I think that is legal here in Oklahoma.

I think any sex outside of marriage is wrong and sex with someone too immature to understand the consequences, moral and life-long is disgusting.

Sort of a mixed message isn't it? I think the idea was to not to tread on personal "religious" beliefs. Boy did that ever backfire. Those laws are still in the books however.

In the UK with parental consent a person may marry at 16, and the legal age for sex is 16. Though some may disagree with me, I see no problem with these ages. Legally, it is wrong for an adult to have sex with an underage child, but morally...It depends on your view.

Ok, since everyone's hyped up on "It's wrong outside of marriage" think of it this way. If someone who's 18 marries someone who's 17 and they have sex, is that wrong?
I think its their choice, but I mean if your going by what the bible says, then your definately in the wrong.... (If your not married). Now as far as sex when you are married, I dont think theres a thing wrong with it. Its only natural for husband and wife.

I guess someone needed to spell it out for everyone.
:)
Thats why I started posting marriage requirements.

I personaly believe that and adult using manipulation on a child to engage in sex is very harmful. It's actually disgusting and only shows how weak a person has become.

The bible mentions nothing of age requirements for marriage. Does it mention age of consent? I don't think it does.

So most of you people think that if 2 people who are like 18, known each other for barely any time at all, run off to Vegas and get married, it's OK for them to have sex, but if two people have been deeply in love for years and are in their 20s that it's not OK for them? I think God would think that the second of the two scenarios is much better, and even fine.

I guess it really depends on the morals of the person. If you go by the bible, you really should be married first. But yes, the second scenarios does "look better"
