  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know there are a number of us that are still single.
Thought I would share this country music song's lyrics by Garth Brooks:

"Unanswered Prayers"

Just the other night at a hometown football game
My wife and I ran into my old high school flame
And as I introduced them the past came back to me
And I couldn't help but think of the way things used to be

She was the one that I'd wanted for all times
And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine
And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

She wasn't quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me
In her eyes too it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn't much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what he's doin' after all

And as she walked away and I looked at my wife
And then and there I thanked the good Lord
For the gifts in my life

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

Some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

I am glad God did not answer my previous prayers of certains guys I liked.

If I had I would not likely have met Randy and he is so totally awesome.
So true, so true, we really dont know what awaits us around each and every corner, do we.

I love Garth Brooks and I absolutely love that song! I think that is one of the hardest lessons as a Christian in general - realizing the blessing of an unanswered prayer.

What an awesome feeling it is when we mature enough as Christians to realize that God isn't answering certain prayers for a reason. I know that I have lost much of my frustration that I had in my 20s - even and especially where the dating scene is concerned.

Thanks for sharing this with us! I had forgotten about that song.

Those words are beautiful, and so true. I have many unanswered prayers, and I thank God for them. I am now in the place that should I meet a guy, I ask God if this is His will, and if it's not, He must please let me know, before I make a fool of myself  Actually no, I don't think that I would marry without knowing for sure that this is God's will.

Strange how we change in our walk with the Lord and seek His will, not ours and beg Him to answers those prayers ;)

I am still knocking too. I to would like to have a relationship with a guy buy unfortunatly there are no single guys in my church I want to date. I might be too picky.
I don't think it's a matter of being too picky, although I have recently had a co-worker inform me that she thinks I'm too picky. LOL

I think it's good for us to set our standards and expectations high and hold true to them. Just as we don't want someone to feel like they are "settling" to date us, we don't want to feel like we are settling, either. And there are people out there that meet the higher standards...we're just fewer and further between. Wouldn't y'all agree? ;)
