Ukrainian fighting tactics endanger civilians

An Amnesty International report released on 4 August accused Ukraine of violating international humanitarian law and conventions related to the protection of civilians in times of war. Noting that Ukrainian forces “have put civilians in harm’s way by establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas, including in schools and hospitals,” the report cites 19 instances in which the lives of Ukrainian civilians were jeopardised in this manner in villages and cities of the Kharkiv, Donbas and Mykolaiv oblasts. “We have documented a pattern of Ukrainian forces putting civilians at risk and violating the laws of war when they operate in populated areas,” said AI Secretary General Agnès Callamard. “Being in a defensive position does not exempt the Ukrainian military from respecting international humanitarian law.”

I guess my biggest complaint on the general issue of Ukraine's handling of the war is....

Ukraine tried to keep the foreign fighters that signed up in their foreign legion, or volunteer brigades they were basically treated like their own citizens blocked from the law and it's execution that kept their own military age males from leaving the country. This was one of the really big stories, that you would not know about, if not for Youtubers (A point I like to make for liberals that disparage stuff coming from nonlegacy news sources)! In a nutshell, for folks that came to fight the Russians in a month of fighting back in the days of the siege of Kiev things got too real with the fire fights and shelling so most of the foreign volunteers wanted to clock out, but they got blocked for doing so even though it was obvious that they were not natives.


Oh another big complaint, is if your foreign fighter you are at the bottom of the pecking order when it comes to receiving supplies of any kind ,even when such supplies comes from your own home country!


They also like to use you as disposable troops kind of like how the new green American troops were used by the French when they arrived in World War I.


By the way I hear that 70% of the stuff we send is unaccounted for..... So who knows if this is bad book keeping or corruption, but the country has as much a history of embezzlement and people selling black market stuff as Russia or any other former Soviet country.

I remember hearing about this months ago and if you dared bring it up you were simply a Russian shill and Putin stooge.

I personally think those military weapons placements were done so as to prompt Russia to attack them, miss and use the collateral damage as propaganda. It was an effective strategy as well, if we're going to be Machiavellian about it.

Establishing bases and operating weapons systems in populated residential areas was something that Hamas and Hezb-Allah were criticized for doing. Perhaps it is OK when our friend Zelenskiy does it!!!
