• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone else here have problems with fatigue? :(

I've not had so much trouble with being actually 'depressed' lately... but I'm always soooo tired... :(

I honestly can't remember the last time I was bouncing with energy and completely wide awake, not wanting a nap at all.

It's starting to worry my family and friends, especially my boyfriend.

I dunno if I need a higher dosage of meds or not....

I'm not really asking for professional advice, I mean if I wanted professional advice I'd go to my psychiatrist (who, btw, I have an appointment to see soon)....but do you guys think a higher dosage would help my fatigue?

It'd be really nice if I got my energy back...

Only thing that comes to mind is do not listen to what your body and mind are telling you. They react the spirit, just takes some getting used to.

Ask yourself, when your hungry or have to go to the bathroom. Do you have troubles getting up and doing them? Or have an itch needs to be scratched?

Test it out, tell your body to do something even thou there is no emotional energy to make it happen. Practice it.

How is your diet? Our diets can have profound effects on depression and fatigue especially. Our bodies need specific nutrients to nourish our minds, which will in turn help with symptoms of fatigue. I suffer from lots of fatigue, but I've noticed that aside from adequate sleep and exercise, my diet has been a large contributing factor in my fatigue levels. My fatigue always gets worse when I eat sweets or refined carbohydrates such as white bread, for example.

I personally don't think that more meds would help with your fatigue levels, because they could possibly burden your liver down even more, which could take a toll on your energy levels.

Do you try to exercise a bit, even if you feel fatigued? This can help too. It also aids in aleviating deprssive feelings.

I have this alot. I am usually incredibly tired and my legs often times feel some-what numb. I can get light-headed at times and I usually can't stay active for a long period of time without needing to rest. I haven't had it confirmed but I think what i have is low-blood-pressure. Though I would check with a doctor for yourself. Alot of things could cause this problem.

Actually you might want to make sure fatigue is not a side effect of whatever medication you are on.

I suffered from extreme fatigue and hypersomnia (sleeping 12-17 hours) when I went through depression. I started exercising regularly in 2005 and at first going to the gym might have been the only thing I got done all day long. I eventually started sleeping less and feeling better, though. Now I sleep 6-8 hours a night and do not feel fatigue anymore (unless I go a week without exercising).
