we have 4 preachers at our church, and whoever feels like they have the message gets up and reads what he needs from the bible and preaches on it. pretty old fashioned and simple, but i like it that way. sometimes we dont even have a sermon.

We have a traditional service early Sunday morning--no multimedia presentations, only piano and organ.

We also have a contemporary service later Sunday morning--complete with power point notes for the sermon, short video clips that go along with the message, dramas, choir and praise team, various instruments, etc.

this is the way I think church should be. really taking into account,
1 Corinthians14:26, that everyone has something to bring!

OK bring things back to the topic ...

Our church using a projector setup for everything. Announements on the screen when you come in, music on it when you sing, sermon notes on it during the preaching. Every child in the children classes have a number and if you see it in the top corner, you know that you need to go see you child.

Our church has a fairly modern look to it and functions very smoothly with all the techonolgy that has been used.

My Baptist Church puts on a PowerPoint Presentation of the sermon.
Pretty neat, I reckon.

How do other Baptist churches present their service to the brethren?
I attend a Baptist service and we have modern praise music with a band, overhead projector with the music and sermon notes on the screen and 4 pastors. 2 main pastors who do the sermons, a worship leader pastor and a children's pastor. Sermons usually last about 30-40 minutes and the music, scripture reading and announcements all together last about 30 minutes. So, our worship services are about 1 hour 10 min. and sunday school is about 1 hour long. Prayer meeting is about 30 min. So, if you are going to go to the whole thing, you are looking at about 2 1/2 hours or more. If there are baptisms, service is longer.

I have to admit though, it goes by so fast that it feels like you are only there for 10 min.

This is a bit opposite of my church. We use a projector for Wed night Bible Studies and sometimes the Sunday night services or other things but we aren't immersed in technology like you guys are. I don't see a problem with it one way or the other. It's a preference thing. We use hymn books and chorus books for the singing. Which is fine with me. If our pastor wanted to use a projector I would not run screaming out of the church. :)

LOL I could just see you running out screaming... ROFL!

One thing about a church that I use to go to that I thought that they were going too far with techonolgy was removing the physical person. They were talking about doing satilite churchs but one preacher and that the satilite churchs would have a video feed of the past preaching at a different location. That didn't appeal to me much.

No kidding, I agree! I would not be very excited about attending service with a "virtual" pastor. lolololo

we dont even own a projector screen! (not that there's anything wrong with it) i live in southeastern Kentucky...im not a stupid hillbilly, but we are quite simple about church services down here! my school choir took a trip to myrtle beach to sing at a church down there...i didnt like it very much...it was too modern for me...i bet you all wouldnt like it here either, bc we are soooo...opposite of your services. but its all about what you're used to and if God's in it, thats all that matters!

We open the worship service with prayer then sing hymns from the "Heavenly Highway Hymnal" accompanied by guitar or piano, no canned music. Then Preacher or one of the men preaches for about an hour or however the Holy Spirit leads, then altar call. Sounds dry looking at it in print but our services are always exciting (to me anyway) and seem to fly by!

We have one pastor, but he's a fireballer. He's not a hacker as is common in some Baptist churches, but its easy to see he has a passion for Christ and doesn't care to get excited when he preaches God's word.

Sunday morning services are usually old fashion. A couple of hymns, a special song, then the message. Sunday nights are altogether different. We turn down the lights, throw up some praise and worship music on the projector and have our full praise band play music. Wednesday nights are pretty mellow, but still awesome to attend.
