Was Tyndale the only Reformer to go against Roman Catholic dogma/doctrines?
And how do others here view him? Thanks

http://www.greatsite.com/timeline-english-bible-history/william-tyndale.html

A clergyman hopelessly entrenched in Roman Catholic dogma once taunted Tyndale with the statement, “We are better to be without God’s laws than the Pope’s”.

Tyndale was infuriated by such Roman Catholic heresies, and he replied, “I defy the Pope and all his laws.
If God spare my life ere many years, I will cause the boy that drives the plow to know more of the scriptures than you!”

Tyndale was then strangled and burnt at the stake in the prison yard, Oct. 6, 1536. His last words were, "Lord, open the king of England's eyes." This prayer was answered three years later, in the publication of King Henry VIII’s 1539 English “Great Bible”.

Nothing more justified than his quote there.
 Thank you Mr Dave
This part struck out at me more than any other quote by the early Reformers struggling against Rome and the Papacy. :) :preach:

......"If God spare my life ere many years, I will cause the boy that drives the plow to know more of the scriptures than you!”

Matt 18:3 And said "amen I am saying to ye, if-even no ye should be turning and may be becoming as the children, not no ye may be entering into the kingdom of the heavens.

Well, I deny the pope and all his laws too. What does that make me? Should I be concerned? :sorry:
Only if you lived during the time of Tyndale ;)

http://www.greatsite.com/timeline-english-bible-history/william-tyndale.html

........Tyndale was arrested and imprisoned in the castle of Vilvoorden for over 500 days of horrible conditions.
He was tried for heresy and treason in a ridiculously unfair trial, and convicted.
Tyndale was then strangled and burnt at the stake in the prison yard, Oct. 6, 1536.....

That heretics be burned is against the will of the Spirit.

Lazarus and the Rich Man - Here a little, there a little - Commentary

Luke 16:24 And he sounding said "Father Abraham! be thou merciful to-me! and send Lazarus! that he should be dipping the tip of the finger of him of water and should be cooling down the tongue of me that I am being pained in the Flame this."

Luke 16:26 And upon all of these between us and ye a great chasm hath been established

So why;d they have to burn the guy strangling him, and how'd they get him to do so in the fire?

If I'm not mistaken, the ones who did the burning actually bellieved they were doing God a favor, trying to burn the devil out as it were, making an early payment for hell or purgatory.

Yes because Luther, Calvin and all the rest LOVED the Catholic Church---'specially the Pope and the bishops.

Tyndale was faced with a local church that was doing a dreadful job of teaching and not making Scripture accessable to the people. He, along with others, were convinced if Scripture could be made accessable then through it God would reform the church as necessary, but the local church systematically obstructed that. Having tried to work with the bishops and been prevented he had little choice but to step outside.

And good on him for doing so, because whatever some of the details and however long its taken the Catholic Church is now committed to making scripture available to every Christian in their own language and teaching them to read it.

That would go with John 16:2 rather nicely me thinks

John 16:2 Putting out of the synagogues they shall be doing ye.
But is coming an hour that every the one killing ye should be supposing a divine service to be offering to the God
