  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just saw my library's VHS copies of~

The Enchanted Cottage (1945) ~ Dorothy McGuire, Robert Young, Herbert Marshall, and Mildred Natwick (DVD)

and

Portrait of Jennie ~ Jennifer Jones, Joseph Cotten, Ethel Barrymore, and Lillian Gish (DVD - 2004)

They were both WONDERFUL! I immediately ordered the DVD of POJ,but alas The Enchanted Cottage is not available on VHS or DVD,so I signed up to be alerted when/if it becomes available.

If you have a good library that is in a large inter-library loan system,as mine is,see if you can borrow them. If you love the great old BW classics,as I do,you will be happy you experienced these, and they look great too!

You know, I really didn't like Portrait of Jennie very much the first time I watched it. But I saw it again a couple weeks ago, and I liked a lot better the second around. I'm crazy about Joseph Cotton, so maybe that's why I like it.

I have yet to watch The Enchanted Cottage. Everytime it's been on TCM I've always ended up missing it for some reason.

Today I bought Ship of Fools (1965) with Vivien Leigh and Lee Marvin. Never seen it though, lol! :D Hopefully I'll like it. I'm not too worried though, I'm a big Lee Marvin fan and I've also heard great reviews about it. And besides, it was nominated for 8 Oscars, lol, so it must be okay.
