The human race is cowering in the darkest spot of a cave. Complete darkness and coldness, no light and no warmth. People are all huddled together trying to create warmth, unsuccessfully. Some people are pushing others out of the way to get their spots as they think that person’s spot is better, its not. Others are killing people to claim their spot and attempt to make it to the center of the huddle where it is believed to be warmer. It’s not.
People are stealing clothes from each other’s backs in an attempt to make themselves warmer, they can’t.
Suddenly, a short distance away on either side of the group, there are two flames. The flame on the left is more like a fire, burning bright and big with much comfort and much warmth. The flame on the right is more like a torch, small, with little comfort and warmth.
There are two unseen figures, the bearers of the flames. One on left and one on right.
The figure to the left shouts out in a tremendous booming voice, ”Come here and feel the warmth and comfort of this great fire I have prepared for you!”
Many from the group head for the Great Flame without looking back at the Small Flame or the group.
The figure on the right then shouts out, “Come follow me, and I shall bring you to the comforts and warmth of an even Greater Fire, but first you must come with me, take some of my flame and face the long hard journey out of this cave.”
Many from the group again head for the Great Flame, some looking back at the smaller flame but ignoring it. Others stumble towards the Smaller Flame but then feel the cold between the group and the small flame. They stumble back to the group and then head for the Great Flame.
But a few people walk towards the Smaller Flame, facing the cold and the isolation. When they arrive at the flame, they see the figure. He gives them some of the flame and then shows them they way out of the cave.
Meanwhile the people at the great fire are enjoying the warmth and the comfort. They shout out to the few people stranded in between the Two Flames, “Come here, this fire is so warm, come!”
The rest join them.
While the few with the small flame are beginning their journey, the people at the Great Flame shout out, “Look at You! You’ll never make it out of this cave, come here with us enjoy the comforts of this fire!” One or two small flame holders return back and join the rest at the Great Fire.
The few bearing small flames go their own ways. Some head for the Great Flame. They try to tell people about the Even Greater Fire that is waiting for them. Some people turn back and follow the Small Flame bearers.
Some people then turn and kill the Small Flame bearers, but the dead is saved by the bearer of the Small Flame.
The Small Flame bearers begin their long cold journey through the cave.
Many stumble but get back to their feet again.
Some turn and go the wrong way, but the bearer of the Smaller Flame redirects them.
While they are making their way through the cave the bearer of the Smaller Flame teaches them how to get through.
Suddenly, the roof of the cave begins to shake. Rocks fall, and it seems as if the cave is to collapse in. But the bearer of the Smaller Flame stands tall and holds the roof for the sake of the bearers.
The bearers make it outside the cave and no longer need the Smaller Flames. There is world of Paradise just as the bearer of the Small Flame had promised.
There was a Great Flame, one thousand times bigger than the one in the cave. As the small group headed towards the flame, the cave began to shake and crumble and fall. It eventually caved in.
The people in the cave were trapped with the coldness and the dying Great Flame. They were left alone in a worse state than they had been in before the Two Flames. So much coldness, no clothes, no warmth, no light. And each was tortured day and night by the creatures of the cave and their master, the bearer of the Great Flame.
