I have noted that there is a teens, thirties, fourties and fifties forum but there is no twenties forum.

Well, you may be thinking "there is a teens forum that goes up to 21 and there is the young adults forum". But I don't think that any of these are good substitutes for a twenties forum. There is a whole bunch of people who are not being catered for in my opinion. :)

The Young Adults forum is pretty redundant, its age range is 18-35 which I think is too broad, we need a more specific forum like a twenties forum. :)

I am sure that most people feel the same way as me about the YA forum, actually one CF member who I have talked to about this agrees with me. :)

It would be great if this is considered. Thank you for reading.

Maybe we could have a trial and see how successful it is?

It would be fantastic when I turn 20 if there is another forum to visit other than singles, teens (which doesn't really cater for me since most members are 16 in there) and the Young Adults forum (which is too broad and unpopular).

I have thought of a name: Talkative Twenties

I LOVE it :D ^_^

I have been saying for months now that the Young Adults section really is in need of one of two things: An overhaul, or obliteration, because of it's severe redundancy. Having an 18 - 35 year old's forum is incredibly useless.

First, very few 30+ people post in it anyway, they go elsewhere. Not to generalize but the average 30+ year old doesn't want "life advice" from people in their 20's, that's been my experience anyway, and frankly I don't blame them.

I know it's nice for the 30 - 35 year olds perhaps to lump them into the young-adult group, but let's face it: 30+ is not considered your typical young adult out in the social scheme of things. Many of them possibly feel the same way.

So they'll go off to the 30+ section which is specifically for them anyway.

Thus we're left with some 20-year-olds on the average in the 20's forum. Now the 18 - 20 group is typically already covered in one of two areas: Late teens since the teen forum goes up to 21, or women's/men's discussion (or singles, as it is a very popular forum for just about everyone) since they are 18+. Therefor that particular age-range is already well taken care of.

So we're left with a stagnant-at-best "young adult's" forum where really it's only function for a long time was to watch people fist-fight it out in debates that got overlooked since no one seemed to care about that forum :p That stopped a few months ago when the forums changed around and we lost a lot of members though. It's been relatively debate AND conversation free ever since.

I understand the idea behind the initial "young adult" theme -- for younger people to get advice in the adult world. However, the average person will go to their gender-specific forum for that.

Keeping with the separate age-range groups, it seems only logical to reduce the age range on the so-called Young Adults forum and fit it into step with the remaining theme. aka, Talkative Twenties, as Becky has suggested.

I think putting a specific age-range and a new name on the forum could possibly re-vitalize it a bit. I think people coming out of the teens section are confused on the idea of "young adult" -- perhaps it sounds too formal for instance, not a place for chatter but a place to specifically talk about how to live in the life of a young adult. That's really not what we should be aiming for. We need to be aiming for full-out fellowship which includes a casual/chatter-based nature as well, sort of like our Women's and Men's forums where we get a mix of advice and casual chat which keeps it active.

I think the idea of a forum named "20's" would better attract the people coming into their 20's rather than the name Young Adults on a forum.

Becky's idea is a great one, I think we should nix Young Adults and head on to the new era of CF with a brand new forum in it's place: Talkative Twenties (or whatever other name the mod-gods should decide upon :p)

so ya'll are saying 30 something's barely post in young adults anyways...

basically all you want is to take a couple years off young adults, and rename it? Problem solved. Which means it would almost be the same as it is now, just with less ppl allowed and a different name? ;)

Well if it's just that simple, I suppose what's the harm in trying ;)

If you'd read through my post a little more thoroughly, I've explained the reasoning behind it. And frankly, "just" a name change can affect -many- things including the way people perceive things around them. Changing the name of a tastey food to something awful would deter some people from going near it... not all of them, but some of them :)

Anyway, I think it's worth a shot. No harm no foul in trying on this one.

Um, not sure this is the right place.. but maybe also taking off the "what you do" in the description would be in order, name change or not. No other forum in the category has such a description and maybe it makes one who isn't "in college or has just started working" feel unwelcome. Right now, it seems like it serves only a section of its intended age group. (large section, maybe.. but still.)

I think it's a good idea.

Although I'd like to expand that to include 18 and 19 year olds. Although they are teens, they are still legal adults and many are going to college, living independently, working, paying their own bills, getting ready to marry etc etc. In other words, they are in or are coming close to entering the same life stage as those in their 20's, it would still be pretty easy to relate to each other. The older teens could also benefit from socializing in the twenties section because they are getting ready to start using credit, insurance, loans, banks, paying bills, paying taxes, using checks etc. We could learn a lot from those who are older and have been living on their own and already know the ropes when it comes to that stuff.

^_^ I do see your point but (there is always a but :p) if we have a more specific forum for twenty year olds then twenty year olds are more likely to post in it. KWIM?
