• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Sorry to see you're worried.
(the little emoticon)

"Religious" needs holds baggage for some of us.
We seperate religion from spirituality to a degree.

Anyway, to answer your question... I think it is a losing proposition to rely on tv for much of anything. The broadcasting process filters out most spiritual content, leaving empty religious calories with no spiritual nutrients. It can fill ya up, but you'll be hungry again in a short while.

If you rely on local TV news to know what is going on in your community you will only get the hi-lights. I think TV preaching is like a snack, ok but it is no substitute for meals.

How can you learn to "serve" with a TV. Give? Perhaps, but be of service NO.
Find a church if possible, if not start one.

I use the internet to get Christian teaching - and there's all sorts out there!

But recently I came across a neat on-line church called www.Lifechurch.tv - it has an Internet campus and pastor and every week you can log in and hear the worship and the 'sermon'. So far it has been really relevant and great teaching. Try it out especially if it's in your time zone!

One of the reasons that I dislike tv "churches" and most ( or all ) online "churches" is that they still have no interaction . The "partor" is allowed to say whatever they want but there is no discussion about the validity of the teaching or if things could be added or subtracted from it . Once again , one or few people get to share what wisdon the Lord gave them and the rest cannot .

Life church allows interaction and they are always seeking feedback. They may not agree with you but they do speak. There is even a chat room where the pastor meets you after each service!

When I was writing about interaction , I wasn't thinking about it as an afterthought or feedback but as a genuine part of the meeting .

I tried the site . It appeared to be geared more for those that meet together physically . I couldn't find a forum or chatroom .

You need to be on the Internet Campus section of the site - there is a link on the home page. Then usually during and around the service times there is 'lobby chat' where intereaction is live!

Also during the services they provide for a certain amount of limited personal interaction to indicate how the message is being received.

I urge you to try it again, the next service is at 10.00 am CDT, I think!

What do you think about getting your religious needs from the pastors on tv?

Hi there:wave:

Jesus did not come with a message of religion, he came with salvation. There is a difference.

Religion teaches works and things you have to do to be saved and accepted by God. But the bible says we cannot save ourselves through religous works and that we do not have to earn God's love.

Isaiah 64:6 says that our good deeds cannot save us, they are like filthy rags compared to a Holy God. The only way is Jesus Christ:

John 5:24 NIV
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

You can get some ideas and teachings from TV programmes, but you still need Jesus Christ.
