Turning Complaints Into Thankfulness!

I'm sure that not a day goes by, that we as people, can't find something we feel the need to complain about. Here's a little game I thought might be a fun way to help us turn our complaints into thankfulness.

Here's how to play...
Think of something you dislike (such as housework) Then think of a reason you should be thankfull for it (such as I should be thankful I even have a house to clean) and give thanks to the Lord for it!

I'll get us started

I dislike washing the dishes

I should be thankful for all those dirty dishes, because if I didn't have dirty dishes it would mean I have no food to put on them in the first place!

I thank the Lord for every dirty dish he's ever given me

I dislike exercise.

Thank you Lord for a healthy body. I wouldn't be able to excercise if I didn't have full use of my limbs.

I dislike splitting wood in the rain.

I thank  the Lord for the rain and the wood I have to split! Without the rain the trees wouldn't grow, and if the trees didn't grow I would have no wood to split for a nice warm fire

I dislike scary drivers.

I thank God for keeping me in check with my own driving so I do not become a "scary driver" myself and cause an accident.

I dislike getting pitch from firewood in my hair...

I thank the Lord for mayonaise which not only gets the pitch out of my hair, but does a great job of conditioning it as well!

Thank you, Lord, for friends who respect you for who you are and not for what you can do for them.

I thank the Lord for never failing us when it does

I dislike having to park a long way from a store entrance

I will thank the Lord that I have two legs and am able to walk whatever distance I need to. I will also thank him for allowing me to have a car to park in the first place

WOW! There are some AWESOME posts in this thread. Even I can contribute here.

There are many things I am not overly fond of, one of them being mowing the yard. But I do thank God for the yard to mow and the mower to mow with, and the health to use it.

I think of the many homeless people, some of whom would so love to have a yard to mow. And there, but for the grace of God.....

But I thank the Lord that I am able to get up every morning to do the job that He has given me.

I dislike being the butt of some peoples jokes. But I am thankful that I am still alive to be the butt of their jokes and that God has given me love for them and the awesome privilege of praying for them.

i dislike being so sensitive. but i am thankful that i am one of the few sensitive caring hearts out their, i am thankful for god helping me to be able to love and be loved.

I get so tired of doing laundry all the time.

Instead I should be thankful for it!

I will thank the Lord for giving me a washer and dryer to do my laundry with, and also for blessing me with plenty of clothing to wear!

Amen to this! My washer just broke down and it will be another 10 days before the repairman can fix it. You don't miss a washer till you are without one. For me, a washer is essential.

I will thank God for showing me what a blessing it is to have a working washer.

Amen to that one GraftMeIn... when I whine about it my hubby says thank the Lord that you have a washer and dryer to do the laundry. I still whine.

I am very thankful to the Lord, He provides me with everything I need and more.

And I'll add this one....
I dislike cleaning the wood stove and stove pipe.

I will thank the Lord for my woodstove and the stove pipe, that needs cleaning. I'll thank him for a nice warm home, and the fact that I still have heat when the power goes out.

I dislike having to go shopping, and waiting in those long lines at the checkout counter.

I will thank the Lord that I am able to shop at all, and that I'm able to purchase the things that are needed.

But I will thank the Lord for a nice warm home to rest in! And for allowing me to slow down and take it easy for just a bit.
