  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I hated turning 30! I have only just accepted it!

I always thought that by 30 my life would be sorted, I would be married, couple of children, house and everything like that, but then I guess things never turn out the way we think they will.!

Here, here! I had the same expectation as you.....had all these plans and goals that I was set to do before I turned 30.

I only accomplished one and that was complete graduate school. :(

Oh well, like you said - life had other plans I guess.....^_^

30 kicked butt for me. I felt like I was just coming into my own. I felt, finally, like a WOMAN instead of a girl.

I dreaded turning 30. Then on my 30th birthday I broke my toe, went to work where all my "friends" had saran wrapped everything on my desk and topped it with confetti. They hid my chair so I'm standing there with my toe swelling inside my shoe try to clean up saran wrap and confetti. All the while dealing with the jokes about becoming "old". It was so horrible it was comical. Comical enough to make me realize I was definately making a bigger deal out of turning 30 than it deserved. There are worse days than turning 30. Now I love being in my 30's!!:D

I didn't even notice really. Just lucky to have the type of personality that doesn't assign a value to the actual number. In fact, quite frequently I don't remember what my actual age is, and I have to think about it a second to remember.

Now when I turned 30 my younger brother had a lot of fun teasing me about it. Next May it's his turn heh heh heh :sorry:

I just turned 30 last October 30 and did my driver's license too. I think I was anticipating what I wanted to look like for my license more than my birthday. I had all these plans of what I wanted to look like, but didn't get myself dolled up as much as I wanted. I'm not sure when it was, (maybe after the license), I realized that every 5 years I get the picture taken at the DMV I'm going to be older.... and older....and older.... and one day I will have to have it taken with sagging skin and wrinkles and gray hair or dye it in an attempt to look young as opposed to dying it just for fun. :sigh: I also would have liked to have gone all out for my birthday to a resaraunt or movies or something to have fun.
If we see it as more of something to look forward to - we don't reach that age but once in a lifetime, whether it's 30 or 31 or 16 or 78 - then we' ll have more fun than stressing about it. :)
