Happy Monday ladies! I'm getting anxious about my appointment tomorrow. I hope they go ahead and just do the progesterone test while I am there. It would be great to finally do something. Hope you all have a wonderful week!

:prayer: for you. I hope the meeting with your doctor goes well and gives you the kind of information and support you need. Plus that all is well with your sister and that it is not too hard for you.

Lovesdolphins, sorry about af. It is so frustrating isn't it, when people get pregnant with no effort.

There seem to be loads of pregnant people at work, suddenly. I do feel a bit envious of their bumps.

yes, im noticing pregnant bellies everywhere and babies everywhere and my husband and i went and saw the movie, knocked up the other night...very cute movie... but only makes ya want a baby more!!

I want to see that movie too - but am afraid of the same problem (wanting a baby even more).
I also can't watch the show 'notes from the underbelly' for the same reason.

My BFF & I are both struggling with getting pregnant, her with her 2nd. She's been trying for nearly 2 years now. It's nice to have someone in real life that understands what you are going thru. We went out to lunch on Thurs, and we lost count of how many pregnant women walked by - we just pray that it's us one of these days.

Thanks so much for the prayers - I definitely need them! Seeing my sis pg has been hard and will be even harder once the baby is born - if I haven't become pg yet, but I'm hoping I will be by then! :) I just found out this weekend that two more people I know are pg. That makes six that I see on a regular basis. It's tough!! One of these days, though, it will be us that everyone is envious of.

Sending prayers up for all of you!

How did it go at the doc?

Thanks for thinking of me! :) I haven't gone yet - I leave work here in 30 minutes. I'm really looking forward to it, hopefully getting some answers. And my sister's appointment is right before mine and I'm anxious to find out whether she is having a girl or boy. I've had my mind on this appt all day - glad it's almost here! I'll be back on tomorrow and will let you all know what I find out. Hopefully, they'll take blood today and go ahead and do the test. I hope, I hope!

Well I had my appointment yesterday. First of all, my doctor said that my ideas were really good. Than he said the progesterone test sounded good and he called a fertility specialist to get his opinion. He said that they don't really do that test until after you become pg. That they generally test for blood clotting disorders first. So that's what they are going to do tomorrow. He said it would just be a blood test. I don't know if I'm happy about not having the progesterone test. Can that hinder me from getting pg if I have low progesterone, or is it just something that can cause m/c? So I will have a test done tomorrow and then as soon as we get the kit in the mail, we will have DH tested as well. After he's tested, they will go ahead with any other tests that they can do on me, unless we figure things out by then.

Another note, my sister found out she is having a girl. At her last appt they thought it was a boy, but now they are almost positive it's a girl. I went with her yesterday to pick out her gift registry. I've always pictured myself having a girl first, and it really got to me. I'm trying to be happy for her - but watching her do all the things I wanted to be doing - and planning a shower for her, it's getting tough.

Jenrenee, how long is your luteal phase? thats the number of days between ovulation and getting af. If its short, like less than 10 days or something, then I believe its said that that can prevent pregnancy (and may be caused by low progesterone?). Otherwise, if your luteal phase is long enough, but you have low prog, then you do start taking pregesterone as soon as you find out you are pg. Maybe your doc or some other ladies here can confirm this? This is what I have read,

p.s. glad your appt went well, it feels good to DO something doesn't it?

Yes, it feels great to actually be doing something! My cycle is 26 days and as far as I know, my O day is day 13 or 14, so that would be more than 10 days - I must be okay there.

What you said sounds like what the dr was saying. It makes sense. My problem is that the last two mc I had, I still had my period - and I had the m/c on what would have been the last days of my period. I'm afraid that if I don't know whether or not I have low progesterone - and I don't find out right away that I'm pg (it's hard if I keep having what seems to be af) - than I could lose it again, before they test and can do something about it. I don't know if that made sense to you, but I'm going to mention it to my doctor.

It just seems like everyone is making me wait! I ordered a kit so we can get DH's sample in to be tested - but it has been backordered. I ordered it off the internet and I can't get anyone to reply to me. I'm afraid it was either not a reputable company, or I'll just have to wait forever. :sigh:

I'm no expert. But what I've read seems to say that progesterone can hinder the amount of mucous you produce while fertile (which would make it near impossible to conceive), so it must be taken after ovulation. Once you've ovulated though, progesterone supports the pregnancy, at first it is your progesterone which supports the baby, then it is progesterone produced by the placenta. This makes me think that it would be best to take the progesterone from O day until you know whether or not you're pregnant - then if you're pregnant keep taking it for a few weeks, if not then stop immediately so as not to affect your chances next cycle.

I know that if used from ovulation to period that progesterone has no impact on your ability to conceive, because I know that it is often used to help people with painful periods who morally object to contraception. :)sigh: I'm so Catholic sometimes ^_^)

But I, like you, think that waiting until you know whether or not you're pregnant to start taking the progesterone would be too risky. I would think you would need it earlier than that.

That's what I keep hearing - although I wasn't sure how it hindered your ability to conceive. Thank you for the explanation! I think I've talked DH into taking a sample in without the kit, which means we can do it on Saturday - yay! And my test is today, so I should have results for both in the next two weeks. I'm going to go in to the dr then, and he's going to think I'm trying to take his job. I think I'll write all this down - and tell him what I think, and why I don't want to wait. See what he says. Chances are that my progesterone level is fine, but it wouldn't hurt to check anyway.

How is everyone else doing?? I've been talking so much about myself that I haven't asked lately. Anyone in the tww yet? Mine actually starts on Saturday.

I'm not even ovulating, so there's no point in waiting. My period is nowhere in sight (and it's a few days overdue now), although I've felt like it's going to start any minute now for a few days. Which is to say my PCOS is still on a rampage, despite taking metformin. How frustrating! But I'll be seeing my ob/gyn at the end of this month, and I'm hoping she'll help me out with some medication that'll get my body going.

That sounds frustrating - but at least you have a plan of action. It feels so good to actually do something. I hope your appointment goes well, and they can get you the medication you need. Good luck - and I'll say a prayer for you! :prayer:
