At the chorale group I participate in, we're learning a song called "Tsena, Tsena" and after the director looked up the translation, she told us that it has to do with the idea that, when the men come back from battle, the ladies should be all dressed up to welcome them, make them feel welcome, "whatever that takes."

Someone said, "like can-can girls, you mean?" What's so funny, is the last part of the song is *identical to "The Horse and Rider" song, the part that says, "The Lord is God and <clap> I will praise Him, my father's God and I will exult him." (It must have been taken from "Tsena, Tsena" because it's an exact match.)

I dunno, I was juxtaposing the can-can girl image with the lyrics of the song I originally knew....

Just trying to get in the Purim spirit.

it was sung by Miriam and the women just after Israel had successfully crossed the Reed sea and had seen the army of Pharoah destroyed by the hand of G-d....

A woman can woo or seduce a man to do just about anything but she can almost never gripe (for use of a better word) a man into just about anything...

This is what I am convinced the proverbs mean about men avoiding the temptations of youth altogether because STRONG men cannot stand up to it...

And the Scriptures also tell women who fear the Lord not to resort to such manipulation tactics to get what they want, but to place all their trust and hope in their Heavenly Father.

Not only do they have more peace, but it creates more respect on both sides of the gender fence that way.

The whole can-can thing is comical to me, but I'd sure never be one.

For those who study Hebrew, tzena is the feminine plural imperative from the root yatza', the root that gives the word hamotzi' (the one who brings forth).

that is odd -- when I searched the web I found that "tzen" means to go or go out - and I believe "tzena" is a gender conjugation it certainly lines up with the translations we have here ....
