At the chorale group I participate in, we're learning a song called "Tsena, Tsena" and after the director looked up the translation, she told us that it has to do with the idea that, when the men come back from battle, the ladies should be all dressed up to welcome them, make them feel welcome, "whatever that takes."
Someone said, "like can-can girls, you mean?"
What's so funny, is the last part of the song is *identical to "The Horse and Rider" song, the part that says, "The Lord is God and <clap> I will praise Him, my father's God and I will exult him." (It must have been taken from "Tsena, Tsena" because it's an exact match.)
I dunno, I was juxtaposing the can-can girl image with the lyrics of the song I originally knew....
