  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My best friend has an almost 8 year old Special Needs child. She is not an internet person even though I've tried to get her to seek support from other parents.

Her son has Tetrasomy {sp?} 18p which gives him an extra chromosome. He exuberates traits of autism and downs. This year he will be put in a special class for autistic students. This is a prayer answered!!!

What I'm asking for her is, how do you discipline your children? Since he has downs traits, he doesn't feel pain like other children so a pop does no good. She says he just laughs at her when she pops him. He is on a 18 month to 2 year level so he doesn't understand other types of discipline.

She said she woke up this morning and just cried until she couldn't cry anymore because she's at her wits end as to what to do. I also should tell you that she's pregnant with no energy and worried that she won't be able to handle her DS and the new baby when it gets here.

Any words of wisdom that I can pass on or any websites I can print info from for her?

Thanks!

I would recommend Gentle Christian Mothers and Arms of Love Family Fellowship.
If she goes the route of using punishment, she is going to need to take the punishment with him. For example, if she puts him in time out, she will need to sit there with him to make sure he doesn't leave and to keep him safe.
