It seems as though that all Trump has to do is merely threaten to send National Guard troops to blue cities for them to finally pull up their bootstrap and finally take their crime seriously. Sounds like a win win.

I appreciate that Democratic governors in traditionally blue states are taking measures to address this issue. It is possible that this is a direct result of President Trump's involvement. If President Trump's threat to deploy the National Guard prompted these governors to take action, it raises the question of why similar threats have not been made toward red states. Notably, seven out of ten cities with the highest crime rates in the United States are located in red states.

Because we finally have a President who does what he says he will do! Peace through strength!

I live in OK - our Governor is doing the same for Tulsa -

Run by democrats who drag up the overall rate for otherwise red states.

Did you know that the politics of all ten of those cities have been dominated by liberal mayors and liberal city councils?

When I looked it up and got various different lists. One had Pueblo, Colorado as number 10. The one above has differences too. None of the ones I found had Seattle as one of the 10.

That's what's been established the most. Look up the mayors and you'll see a "D".

The city and the state have been taking crime seriously for quite a while. That you think this represents some big shift in policy shows that you don’t know any more about this city than Trump does.

Also, I see now why Fox 45 (owned by Sinclair) has a reputation for being Trumpy. The stats she cited about crime dropping in DC are ridiculous - they’re comparing the past two weeks of 2025 with the same two weeks in 2024, while ignoring whether there was any decline this year prior to the past two weeks. (psst, there was)

When I looked it up and got various different lists. One had Pueblo, Colorado as number 10. The one above has differences too. None of the ones I found had Seattle as one of the 10.

You get different lists because each list sets a different lower bound for population size. Setting the threshold at 100k, 500k, or 1m can give you drastically different results.

So what are the official seven out ten cities people are talking about in regard to Trump deploying the national guard?
You’d have to ask them.

The stats for Seattle I gave are corroborated by an AI overview which takes the same stat from different sources.

Seattle's total crime rate in a recent 2024 study was 5,782.7 per 100,000 residents, placing it fourth among the 30 largest U.S. cities, with a total crime number 172.9% higher than the national average. Property crime is higher than the national average, though violent crime rates were lower in the first half of 2025 and declined significantly in 2024 from previous years.

Specifics of Seattle's Crime Rate
    • Total Crime Rate (2024): 5,782.7 per 100,000 residents.
    • Violent Crime (2024): 775.1 per 100,000 residents.
    • Property Crime: Significantly higher than many smaller cities, though recent data shows a 17% decrease in 2024

Baltimore was being hyped earlier this year for supposedly rapid decline in crime rates. Unfortunately, it appears this was not reality:

US News rankings are mostly clickbait garbage. If you’d read your own link, you’d have seen that the newest FBI data they use is from 2023, which means that your claim is entirely unfounded.

The Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3 supports federal law enforcement. The union's president, Mike Mancuso, sent a statement to 11 News that reads, in part: "Baltimore is short 600-700 cops, and the brave ones that are left are severely overworked. Let's keep politics out of this and welcome those who want to help in the crime fight."

Things have been so quiet here lately that I’f almost forgotten about Mancuso’s propensity for making himself look like a jerk. This comment isn’t horrible, but he’s hardly a champion of policies that improve relationships with the public.

Great. thanks for the info. President Trump should send national guard to these seven states.

From a conservative standpoint, the presence of the National Guard performing law enforcement duties was once considered unacceptable. However, I recognize that the form of conservatism with which I identify is no longer prevalent.

Does it matter who run the city? If President Trump intends to address crime as he claims, and deploys the National Guard to Washington, DC, it would be consistent to extend this action to other cities facing similar issues. In fact, the National Guard should have been dispatched to New Orleans or Memphis prior to Washington, DC, or to Portland before Chicago, given their higher rates of crime.

As a conservative, I believe sending the National Guard to cities to reduce crime is un-American. I hope the Supreme Court ends this policy, but even if it does not, I still oppose it.

If President Trump wanted to reduce crime in America, he should have coordinated with local and state law enforcement, as well as mayors and governors, instead of deploying the National Guard. Deploying the National Guard is not a permanent solution, and unless the U.S. Constitution changes, the Supreme Court will not allow them to stay in cities long-term to combat crime. There seems little point in sending them for 30 or 60 days if crime rates return to previous levels once they leave.
