There will always be a deficit if the US consumes more than follow on five countries combined.Or.... perhaps he understands and want to eliminate the deficits. Almost like making it a fixation on balancing the scales, so the American taxpayer is benefitted -
Yes. I cannot figure out how to post the link, but US government statistics show that only 0.2% of the fentanyl entering the United States illegally comes from Canada.hmm.... - got a verifiable answer to that?
Really? Let's look at that deficit next year after the tariffs take effect for a while. The population of the US is eight times larger than that of Canada. Reducing the trade deficit between Canada and the US is mathematically impossible.
Uh, huh - and then the Canadians moved instead of just talking about it.Yes. I cannot figure out how to post the link, but US government statistics show that only 0.2% of the fentanyl entering the United States illegally comes from Canada.
Trump is lying when he says there's a fentanyl problem associated with a leaky Canadian border
Trump lying? What a shock.
Really? Let's look at that deficit next year after the tariffs take effect for a while.
But not a country that values truth any longer. In fact, we have drifted to a country that embraces the wildest of conspiracies and lets the obfuscate the truth so that nothing is trusted as certain any longer. Anything can be believed even n the face of objective fact. All it takes is one untruthful voice proclaiming a lie and that voice will have a following. However, if you wish to present President Trump in a positive light and share information that may not be logical, you are free to do so, as it is a country that values freedom of expression.
Ronnie clearly went woke.Ronald Reagan speaks from the grave:
Part of the difficulty in accepting the good news about trade is in our words. We too often talk about trade while using the vocabulary of war. In war, for one side to win, the other must lose. But commerce is not warfare. Trade is an economic alliance that benefits both countries. There are no losers, only winners. And trade helps strengthen the free world.
Yet today protectionism is being used by some American politicians as a cheap form of nationalism, a fig leaf for those unwilling to maintain America's military strength and who lack the resolve to stand up to real enemies—countries that would use violence against us or our allies. Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies. We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag. The expansion of the international economy is not a foreign invasion; it is an American triumph, one we worked hard to achieve, and something central to our vision of a peaceful and prosperous world of freedom.
Now then, who do you suppose that dangerous demagogue is in our time?
The sad thing is this aint hard to figure out. It's cognitive dissonance.I know how to put 2+2 =4.
You can argue all day that the trade deficit will decrease, but mathematically it is not possible.
Here are simple facts
- Population of US is 340 million
- Population of Canada is 41 million.
No amount of tariffs will lead 41 million Canadians to consume American products at the same rate as 340 million Americans would consume Canadian products. For instance, 41 million Canadians cannot consume as much orange juice as 340 million Americans can consume maple syrup. This is simply a matter of mathematics and biology.
However, if you wish to present President Trump in a positive light and share information that may not be logical, you are free to do so, as it is a country that values freedom of expression.

Then you certainly have no issue with giving it time.I know how to put 2+2 =4.

But the USAians will be paying the additional costs. We are currently at a DEFICIT - increasing the income from Canadian goods and services by 25% - does not raise the deficit - it LOWERS the deficit.
Then you certainly have no issue with giving it time.
Sometimes a well meaning person can add 2+2 and get banana.
We are currently at a DEFICIT - increasing the income from Canadian goods and services by 25% - does not raise the deficit - it LOWERS the deficit.
So mathematically it is completely possible. That's why I said give it a year. See you in 2026.
The tariffs are being used as a NEGOTIATING tool with Mexico and Canada, there is no good reason why they can't fully cooperate with the U.S. to stopping the flow of fentanyl and illegal border crossings.Canada also imposed 25% tariff on US goods.
The Canadian maple syrup I bought for $17.95 today will cost $22.44 next week with the 25% tariff. Consequently, I will consume less since my paycheck hasn't increased by 25%.
Currently, Florida oranges cost $2.96 USD in Canada, but will rise to $3.70 with the tariff. Just as I will reduce my maple syrup consumption, Canadians will cut back on oranges because their income hasn't risen by 25%.
There is no need to wait 2 years to determine that 25% - 25% equals zero.
But the USAians will be paying the additional costs.
Where do we pay less?
Absolutely. I live in Seattle and drove up to Vancouver Ca last weekend. They have literally removed American products from their shelves and of those that remain, they have labeled what is US, and what is Canadian. Not only that, when I came back Sunday afternoon I breezed through the border back home because the flow of Canadians into the US was nearly non existent. In the tariff war, Canada is likely to lose due to its smaller economy compared to the US. The US can sustain this tariff war, but it will not reduce the deficit as advertised. Many Americans seem to have forgotten basic math.
The problem is that Americans see this as an economic issue and will likely forget the price in six months, reverting to buying Canadian goods. For Canadians, it's a patriotic duty. Many Canadians are upset and are already changing their consumption habits of American products.

Democrat leaders said the border was safe, secure, and closed and that Joe was energetic and sharp as a tack. Why would you believe them about fentanyl? The Canadians are stepping up their efforts against fentanyl, here is today's press release from the Canadian government:Yes. Trump is lying when he says there's a fentanyl problem associated with a leaky Canadian border
Trump lying? What a shock.
"Fentanyl is a threat to our communities and public safety. We need to do everything we can to strengthen law enforcement's capacity to combat the devastating impact of illegal drugs. The Precursor Chemical Risk Management Unit and the Canadian Drug Analysis Centre are new tools as part of Canada's border plan to support law and border enforcement in detecting and disrupting the illegal fentanyl trade. This is an important step in addressing the overdose crisis and keeping communities safe."
The Honourable Ya'ara Saks
Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and Associate Minister of Health
You think the information on fentanyl came from democratic leadership?Democrat leaders said the border was safe, secure, and closed and that Joe was energetic and sharp as a tack. Why would you believe them about fentanyl? The Canadians are stepping up their efforts against fentanyl, here is today's press release from the Canadian government:
Combatting fentanyl production and supporting law enforcement action
Canada is taking significant action to stop the production and devastating impacts of illegal fentanyl and other illegal drugs on public health and public safety. Health Canada plays a critical role in supporting Canadian law and border enforcement in their activities to counter the global drug...www.canada.ca
The baloney that Canada is not a problem in regard to fentanyl entering the U.S. So often the Democrat leadership deals in suppression of information and denial. They claimed the laptop was not really Hunter Biden's, that rumors about Joe's lack of mental competency were not so, they said the border was safe secure and closed. A problem cannot be fixed unless it is first acknowledged as a problem. You can see for yourself in the aforementioned press release that the Canadians believe fentanyl is a problem in their country. You think the information on fentanyl came from democratic leadership?
