  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is one of my favorite movies I love to watch from time to time.
It stars.

Christian Slater
Patricia Arquette
Dennis Hopper
Val Kilmer
Gary Oldman
Brad Pitt
Christepher Walken
Micheal Rapaport
Samuel L Jackson
Tony Soprano (Ok I forgot his name)
Chris Penn
That guy that played the cop on Natural Born Killers :sorry:
Plus that guy that played Balki on a sitcom.

And was written by Quentin Tarantino.

I don't know how well this did at the box office, but I never heard of it.
I was just renting some movies and I picked it up back when it was new to rent.
And man did this movie blow me away!
The action, the acting, the lines, the story, the sound track, and the attitude of the film.

What are your thoughts on this movie?

How about the pimp scene with Gary Oldman.
With that techno music blasting, and the lines the actors had.
Now that was an intense scene.
"What's in that envelope is some payoff money for Alabama, she is moving on to some greener pasture. I'm not going to barter, I'm not going to trade, what's in that envelope is worth my piece of mind. My piece of mind is worth that much, and not ..one..penny.....more!"

And that Dennis Hopper/Christipher Walken scene, how ballzy was that scene?
"...cause...you're part....eggplant."

This is a very special movie in that it is a love story geared more for men's tastes, rather than womens.
That is very rare.

What are your thoughts on this movie?

I think the cop you're talking about is Michael Madson and the guy that played Balki was Bronson Pinchot, who was also in Beverly Hills Cop and I think that name of that TV series was Perfect Strangers if I'm not mistaken.

I really dug this movie. Talk about a slew of good actors! It would have been interesting to see Tarantino actually direct this one too.

Interesting Tarantino link to this movie, sort of. If you've seen Reservoir Dogs, remember Mr White mentioning an old partner named 'Alabma.' and Patricia Arquette's name in True Romance was Alabama? Coincidence or not?

Tarantino has referenced characters from his movies in other films. Another example is Jack Scagnetti in Natural Born Killers and in Reservoir Dogs, Michael Madsen mentions his parole officer, Seymour Scagnetti.

Anyway, True Romance is a good movie. The Christopher Walken - Dennis Hopper scene is an all-time classic.

BTW, the music in True Romance is from the Martin Sheen - Sissy Spacek movie, Badlands.
