  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey everyone  and blessings to all! I wanted to share what I did today. It's not super exciting, but I think it's pretty nifty.:D I got some money for my birthday and I went to the Christian bookstore. I bought Leslie Ludy's Authentic Beauty and a sterling silver True Love Waits ring. It's beautiful. It's a plain silver band with the words True Love Waits inscribed around the band. Do any of you wear one? Does it help serve as a reminder to maintain your purity? Do you have any special plans for it, such as giving it to your spouse on your wedding day?

Yeah I wear one (for about 5 years now). Mine is a band with a little cross on it. I had one with the words True Love Waits on it but it got tarnished and I've lost track of it. As far as it serving as a reminder it does especially when I'm really struggling with something. I haven't thought as far as what I'll do with it IF I'm blessed enough to get married. Was the book good?

I do wear one...mine is exactly as you described. I wear it actually where my wedding ring will one day go...and until I'm married, it will stay there.

Yeah, I was hoping mine would fit on my left ring finger, but I wear a size 5 1/2 and the last one left was a size 7, so I wear it on my middle finger.

I don't know if guys wear such things, but with me the principle has been engraved on my heart since childhood.

It's a good idea, but you might want to not wear it on the finger that the wedding ring goes on if you are open to dating - most of us guys don't have telescopic vision and would take it for a wedding ring! Honorable guys would leave you totally alone, believing you married.

ps - do you know why the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger? In history, the wedding vows included "With this ring, I thee wed, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen.". As the groom said this vow, he walked the wedding ring on the tip of each finger (starting with the thumb) each time he said the name of a member of the trinity. At "amen", the ring was placed on the fourth finger. Definitely a way to stress whom the vows were made before, and a constant reminder of it throughout life. :^)

I've worn my ring, which is exactly as you described, for 6 years now. Like someone else said, I won't stop wearing it until I'm married, God willing. I don't know if I will pass it on to him or to a daughter if I have one. It's quite worn, being six years old...I won't trade it in for a new one though! A great book I'd recommend to all single women is P.B. Wilson's Knight in Shining Armor.

Wow, that's the neatest thing I think I've heard of in these recent months.
As a guy, I am interested in finding out if they make bands for men with the inscription on it.
I would definitely be interested in such a thing...Thanks for posting about it, otherwise who knows if I'd ever of heard of this!!!

Well, if I'm open to dating, then it would be a bad idea I suppose. But, I am sick and tired of dating. The next person I date, I want to marry. I WILL NOT date someone that I do not know on a friendship basis. And once they know me as a friend, they will know its not a wedding ring. I don't want to date someone to get to know them, that can be done in group settings...I want to date someone with the pursuit of marriage. I will not date anyone I could not see myself marrying. That's just me I guess...

I'm getting mine in a few weeks!!!! And IT"S SUPER EXCITING! its a really big thing to me. I cant wait hehe. And right after I get it, I get baptized as well. Pretty cool!

One plan could be to give it to my spouse on our wedding day, but i think its best to give it to my future daughter.
But you can do what I do. Write letters and journals and prayers to your future husband in a journal and give him that when you get married...

My hats of to you ladies for doing the ring thing. It is very hard to come by these days, but there are some of us guys who are seeking a woman like you. Actually I shouldn't say seeking, but waiting patiently. But keep up the good work and may God bless you for your patience.

:) No, I agree totally with you - that's exactly the principle I'm applying to my own life. I think I've always known it, really - that's there's no point in looking at anyone unless as a possible husband. And dating seems so cruel and dishonest, now that I look back on my own life, and at people I know.

I wear a little promise ring *blushes* - it's has a white gold heart on with a diamond in. So far I've only told my best friend what it really stands for. He thinks I'm mad, lol. But then I think he's mad for dating so enthusiastically. Ah, well.

Maybe I'm weird, but we went over the True Love Waits program in my youth group when I was in high school. I still have the little blue commitment card I keep in my wallet. Its dated March 1995. I have a silver ring with a dove and cross on it that my grandmother gave me. It's not an official TLW ring but it serves the same purpose for me. Funny thing is, people see it and always ask if its a puzzle ring.

I have a True Love Waits ring, I got mine a few years back in the youthgroup. All the girls were reading a book called, When God Writes Your Love Story and they had where you could order the true love waits rings. I have worn my for 4yrs now.. I had taken it off for a short time when I was going through somethings and had certain thoughts and feelings. Even though I know wearing the ring would of been a big help, but I felt wrong wearing it at that time. But I am back wearing it and love it when people see it and ask about it.
