• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

1. Because I believe in Christ.
2. Because Christ appears to be changing me in about the ways described.

I refuse to try to consider people "not true Christian"; it is harmful and dangerous, at best.

1) I've accepted Christ as lord.
2) I've surrendered my life over to Him.

Those are the only things i can do. The rest is in Gods hands.

Passing judgement on someone else claiming to be a true Christian is very difficult since only God is capable of knowing our hearts.

I believe the more a persons character is transformed into the likeness of Christ the more capable they are of judging the level of Christian maturity in someone else.

When a Christian is born again they are given a new set of eyes and ears. As they mature in Christ these new set of eyes and ears become better developed enabling them to discern spiritual things more clearly.

Theoretically a true Christian should be recognizable, because Jesus said "you will know them by their fruit."

LOL I was going to post the same thing earlier. Wait, let me produce my own satirical response.

True Christian:
1. Believes in Jesus Christ as the Savior.
2. Believes in and adheres to the Nicene Creed
3. Attends church regularly
4. Believes homosexuality is an abomination of God
5. Stands outside abortion clinics holding up signs and screaming "baby murderer!"
6. Believes all Catholics, Mormons, and Jehovah's Witnesses belong to false cults and will be sent to hell unless they attain "real salvation"
7. Judge others, excuse me, provide loving correction
8. Believe the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God.

Oh wait, that's more than two reasons. Darn it's tough being a Pharisee and telling other people they aren't a real Christian (like me) using only two reasons! *cries*

Agreed.

But... If I don't recognize someone as a true Christian, is that because of their flaw or mine?

Give me 2 reasons why you are a “True Christian™”.

And then 2 reason you would constitute a Christian not a “True Christian™”.
I don't know that I could tell you why I am a true Christian but I can tell you why Christ is my True Savior.

This is pointless, the only thing that makes u a Christian or not is if u have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, confess that u yourself are not capable of saving urself and surrendering to him. And that decision is between u and God, noone else can no for sure.

What about him? Whatever he believed (and I honestly can't tell) is between him and God. Not my place. I am very offended by, and concerned by, the glee with which people say "Hitler wasn't a true Christian". I do believe there is room for doubt; he gave some impression in less public moments of being personally opposed to the Christian faith, and may have endorsed some of the "blood and soil" paganism of other members of his council... but then, he may have just been a pure politician, believing nothing. And he may, underneath it all, have been a very lonely and confused Christian. I don't know, and it is not my place to judge. Christianity does not require that I somehow bury the body, should Hitler turn out to have been a true Christian. The faith gives adequate warning that some Christians will do horrible things out of ignorance or confusion. So... I don't like the tactic of simply denying the faith of everyone inconvenient.
