  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Homer's Odyssey also picks up after Hector's death from what I understand. It focuses mainly on Odysseus' trip home but it seems to also end the war (with the Trojan horse)

I didn't find it terrific but the Achilles storming the beach and the Achilles vs Hector fights were some of the best fights I've ever seen in my life. Extraordinaly well co-ordinated though the Achilles/Hector fight seemed choppy once or twice... donno if it was editing or just a flaw in the video.

Additionally Paris's killing of Achilles is buried (rather randomly both because it differs from the theme and setting of the other stories) in Ovid's Metamorphoses, I believe.

You know, I heard that they didn't actually use Brad Pitt's legs in some of the fight scenes, because they weren't muscular enough...
Hmm... Seems like another fabrication to me, but can anyone confirm?
Oh yes, about the film. Good, for a "switch-your-mind-off-don't-care-about-the-story-line" film. However, it follows the Iliad to a bare minimum, which annoyed me slightly.

I'll see it soon.

For you, Read the Iliad. Robert Fagles has an awesome translation of it.
For the rest of the story you'll have to go to the Romans. I think the story continues in Virgil's Aeneid, picking up after the death of Hector.
Awesome reads, Mr Cheese!
Yep,....Loved the movie!

Orlando Bloom looked a bit out of place in armour...

I was awestruck by the scale of the movie. The panoramic shots of the battles, the ships heading from Sparta...and good performances too. The accents were interesting (particularly Eric Bana's, considering his natural Aussie accent is very Aussie) but definitely a very interesting film, albeit maybe a tad long.

i heard they left out the gods aspect of it (ex. greek names... zeus, hera, etc). is that true?
Hi!

If you see the review @ www.HollywoodJesus.com the makers said they left the legendary gods out of the acton, for greater realism, but they are mentioned in the dialog
