• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have been making a concerted effort to reading a little of my bible each day and was in Luke when I got triggered by the unpardonable sin. I don't think anything will ever help me get over this because it is always lurking in the back of my mind that in my thoughts I have spoken against the Holy Spirit and Why would God have such a snare in the first place? I am trying to work hard on loving God and feeling his love for me and others. I want to live a holier life. But, if I am going to fry ... this is just sad all the way around.:prayer::sorry:

With OCD, spikes come sometimes even after we think we've mostlly gotten past something. I know you have probably read all about this subject. Just let me say as someone said recently, I don't think Jesus was talking at all about people who desired to come to him but those who had hardened their hearts so much they were willing to dismiss anything as not being of God because they didn't WANT to believe. Jesus also said that WHOEVER comes to Him, He would not cast out. He is not desiring for any to perish. At the end of the day, I think the cliche is true that...if you have any concern about committing this sin, YOU definitely have NOT. Try not to ruminate on it. The more you ruminate, the worse it gets and conversely, the less you do and go about your life, the more you are able to put this in true perspective.
(By the way, my counselor told me one time that in her experience, almost EVERYONE (Christian) who battles OCD will think they have committed the unpardonable sin at one time or another. She told me she was actually surprised I'd never battled this. Ha, ha, I had to laugh because I certainly had battled it. Just never told HER about it cuz it was in the past!)

KayKay.. I'd also like to thank you for your post! It put a smile on my face. Everytime I try to serve the Lord, I always get attacked with blasphemous thoughts. I always fall back on 1 John 1:9 and John 6:37 and I am comforted.

I just want everyone to know that struggles with blasphemous thoughts/unpardonable sin issues: YOU are NOT alone!

I always used think that I was the ONLY one in the whole world with this problem.
It something in churches people don't talk about or will admit b/c of fear of judgement from "religious" people in the church.

Hang in there my friends! You are saved, you are washed in the Precious Blood of the Lamb and God's Loving Spirit still lives in You!
