translation help for my son

Hi - my son is taking German in school, and one of his assignments tonight is to find the german translation for "guitar picks", which is what he collects.

The teacher did not know how to say it, and the free translator sites think I am asking for a variation on the word pick and translate it as auswahl, which seems to mean selection, as far as I can tell.

Anyone out there who can help us?

I think the translation is "Plektrum".

I've asked an online dictionary as well...and that's what it gives me back so it should be the right word

It's probably just a spelling mistake, but it's still called "Plektrum" without an "a".
Or "Plektron", according to the dictionary.

plektrum is the correct translation. i used it when i played the guitar. very helpful
