Transition: LDR --> not LDR

Has anyone here experienced the transition; going from a LDR to a "normal" relationship where both live in the same city?

What challenges should we be particularly aware of? My girlfriend has just arrived from a 7 months of studying abroad...

I would also be curious in any replies to this as I will be moving to the same city as my girlfriend after I graduate in a few months.

I moved to the same city as my boyfriend after being apart for a year and a half. We had been dating for about a year and a half before we moved to seperate cities. Since we talked everyday online and on the phone the transition wasn't really that hard. It was definitely harder being apart!! We spent a lot of time together before we lived in different cities and then once I moved here we seemed to just pick up where we left off. Perhaps the biggest challenge was just spending more time with them and less time boy yourself or with other friends. Hopefully other people can share their experiences too!

I haven't experienced that transition yet but I hope to this fall.

My bf is moving up to where I am in about a year to work on his Masters as I work towards my Bachelors. I was so surprised and pleased at how thoughtful he was when he mentioned the idea of moving up to where I am. I haven't known many guys who would be willing to relocate for their gf when it meant leaving their home and comfort zone. Zimfan is such a sweetie and I love him!

For us it was the easiest most natural thing in the world, very little difference between LDR and not. It was a little weird being in person at first but then it was GREAT, getting to go on real dates etc. It was a blast.
