I know this is the Discussion and Debate section, but I'd like to ask that only Traditional Adventists (those that agree with the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist church) be the only ones to debate and vote in this thread/poll.

I'm asking for no debate in this thread except between the Traditional Adventist members here please!

I would like to take an infomal poll of which Traditional Adventists would like to remove our current Forum-Specific Guidelines to operate our forum under the CF site-wide guildelines (here) and the congregation-wide guidelines (here).

PLEASE read those two sets of rules before commenting about this proposed change. They're not very long and they cover all the bases (IMHO).

If we do go with those rules, non-members (a "Member" is defined in the congregation-wide guidelines as someone that agrees to the Statement of Faith of their church) can only post fellowship posts and cannot debate, teach, or harass in the Seventh-day Adventist forum here.

I want to hear from my fellow Traditional Adventists because I don't want to keep suggesting something that would make others here uncomfortable!

If we come to a consensus about this it would be much easier to approach the mods about what we'd like to see happen here now that there has been a split between the Progressive/Moderate/Former Adventists and us.

Keep in mind, please, that there are plenty of places to debate here on CF and this would not mean that you won't be able to do that elsewhere.

PLEASE NO DEBATE IN THIS THREAD EXCEPT FROM TRADITIONAL ADVENTIST MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM!!

Those rules are already in place, in case you don't know.

The only difference is that we have Forum-Specific Guidelines added to them, which allows debate.

We're not ALLOWED to change/edit/alter the current FSGs even though Progessives helped make them, so this is the only other choice that I can see. Otherwise we'll continue to be harassed here by people that said they wanted OUT of this forum but now refuse to leave.

ATTN: NO DEBATE WILL BE PRESENT IN THIS POST! ONLY TWO QUESTIONS THAT ARE NOT INTENDED FOR DEBATE! JUST HONEST QUESTIONS!

1. Is it permissible for anyone to start a new thread in a discussion/debate area and attach their own new rules to it?

2. Does CF expect that all other posters must adhere to individual new rules specific to a particular thread?

Trust,

I'm not sure how to vote. I like it when others can come here and ask questions and we can have a discussion with them.

As you know I did not want the progs to leave, but it happened.

What are your thoughts concerning others coming here to ask questions and discussing?

What would be the advantages to getting rid of the D&D forum?

in my opinion...

the formers, progressive, evangelicals, etc, that has just left, have there minds made up on lots of issues. it has turned into an unpleasant atmospher of your right and i am wrong and lots of name calling. that is what we are trying to stop.

with that being said, i have no problems with people from other denominations coming and asking us questions on what we believe and why. we will simply answer them and fellowship with them.

there would be no fighting or harassing.

now, others, who know what we believe who are coming in here and harassing and questioning our believes, that will not be tolerated.

so you see, d&d is not really needed. we can still answer questions people have without having the d&d.

MVA, here's how the CW (congregation-wide) guidelines define a fellowship post:

DEFINITION OF A FELLOWSHIP POST

1) It is not debate or apologetics (defense).

Those who disagree with a congregation’s Statement of Faith will not discuss reasons for or against any subject being discussed on this sub-forum. This includes questions that essentially are rebuttal or argumentative in nature. Those who disagree will not engage in theological discussions that defend their particular point of view on scriptural, theological, doctrinal, social, or political issues.

2) It is not answering questions or teaching.

Only a member of the congregational forum may give answers to and instruct on doctrinal questions. While there may be many very good ideas on the subject from non-members, they may not give instruction. Earnest questions are always welcome, from anyone.

3) What Fellowship is:

Essentially fellowship is defined as the discussion of topics of association, of companionship - i.e. discussions of things like friends, family, work..... these topics are fellowship. Posts that offer friendship would certainly be described as fellowship.

If someone came here and asked a question about say...Sabbath....we could supply all the Biblical support we have for Christians to obey God's law and even address all the verses people use to say we shouldn't keep Sabbath.

The additions WE (Adventists) all make to the question threads of our guests would be a learning experience for all of us, I feel.

Anything after that at this point is redundant.

I'm just tired MVA. I'm getting hounded by two different people about Hebrews 4 when I've talked about it, at length, several times already.

It's the same ol' same ol'!

Hey, you know what?

Since it wouldn't be a debate area anymore, we could all discuss all the fundamental beliefs and supply scripture, and personal studies, etc and start a sticky about each one.

I think that'd be very cool.

The op is about getting people who know our doctrine and choose to argue it anyway. its harassing and exhausting. this area has been to chaotic for to long. this will bring peace.

you can ask all the questions you want, but after an answer is given, thats it.

we are ALL open to having people ask questions. people who are truly wanting to know. not the ones who have been here for years and are just hounding us. thats harrassment!

Jon, I asked nicely that this be for Traditional Adventists here only.

We were the ones "left behind" and we are the voices that should be heard about this.

Your friends were listened to and now have their own forum. We're trying to make this one into a pleasant place for all of us here, and really don't need additional input on this.
