Trading freedom for security

Good article. I don't remeber what famous person said it but there is a quote that goes something like; "He who is willing to exchange freedom for security has neither". I fear far too many people feel that way today.

I also read The Terrible Truth About Liberals by Neal. It was an excellent book, had me rotf most of the time. lol

But who sets the Balance? Congress? The Pres.? The Supreme Court? John Q. Public?

And it's not like it's been over the past year that the press has been disliked in America. In a survey done by the freedom forum every year, the average percent of people who think, "The First amendment goes too far in the rights it guarantees," is just around 50 %. Same goes for the question should the government be allowed to infringe on the religious freedom of religious groups it deems as threats. I think people would be suprised at how quickly americans would hand over their freedoms for a security blanket.
