Ive been watching a program here in the UK and theres a guy on it with Tourettes and i started wondering how he would be viewed by people in the church along the road from me and in all honesty i couldnt work it out, so i thought i would ask you guys.

How would a person with tourettes be viewed in your church? I know that swearing/cussing is unacceptable in church but people with tourettes cant help it.

Um, why would it matter if he couldn't help it? Why would he be banned from fellowship simply because of a disorder? And what of the possibility of healing? How can he have people pray for him if he isn't even allowed in the door?

I really wish there weren't stupid people in the church (not the guy with Tourette's but the guy that tells him to go home)...

i have tourettes and i am loved and accepted in my church. i'm also able to manage to control my tics long enough to not swear in church. but i suppose it depends on the severity of the disorder. the swearing issue was more of a problem when i was younger. i've settled down with age and so has my tourettes. but nonetheless...they should be understanding and loving regardless. and to be quite honest...i truly feel that being saved and being part of a church family aids in the well being of the touretter and aids in some of the control of the tics.

Thats cool. One of the things the guy said makes his tourettes worse is stress and it gets better when he's calm.

Just as a side note, no one has told him he cant go to church, its just my experiance that the people i used to go to church with (mormons) were very intolerant of anything and anyone that didnt fit the mold.

As im now looking for a new church to be part of, im just trying to see if the same problems are in other churches. You know, intolerance.

Thanks

i'm sorry to hear that. i pray that the Lord will make things better for you.

The Lord has helped me very much and i would not be able to survive if it wasnt for him. Its great to know people care and to have a loving, caring, Father in Heaven.

God bless

big brother by deffinition is

1. crap
2. not reflective of the normal people in the countrys the housemates represent.
3. rather perverted.

I completely agree, but i did feel this was a good question dispite the crapness of its origin.
