of course one should mention that for question 3 the claim is only recognised by one other country that is not in the answer. That is the UK. So only the UK, NZ, France & Norway recognise Australia's claim. So the answer is debateable in the sense that at a trivia night people would argue the point.

Zaphod,

Close.

1) Three ACT, NT and Jervis Bay
4) None Tas and Vic share a land boundary on Boundary island in Bass Strait.
6) It is d, NSW, SA and there is a portion that is shared between Vic and SA but has never been defined as to who owns the river.
7) Islam is the largest religion in Cocos Islands

As for the Australian Antartic Territories, there are curently no counter claims over our territoires, the Antartic Treaty stops any further claims. We have set aside an EEZ extending from the AAT.

there may be no counter claims over the AAT but if it is not recognised by the majority of the countries in the world or bodies like the UN then it doesn't really count for much. Being acknowledged and recognised are two different things just look at the policy on China and a small island that makes just about everything.

So Anthony what are your sources for this information?

Even for a seasoned Australian some of these questions were difficult.

1) How many mainland territories in Australia?
(2) ACT & NT, Jervis Bay is a unique category controlled by both the Federal Government and the ACT Government.

2) Who (according to the constitution) is the current President?
We do not have a President but a Prime Minister. Our formal head of State is the Governor General.

3) With which countries does the Commonwealth of Australia share land boundaries?
None. Australia is known as the largest island and the smallest continent.

4) How many Australian states do not have a land boundary with another state?
(1) Tasmania.

5) What is the tallest mountain in the Commonwealth of Australia?
On mainland Australia it is Mt. Kosciuszko but higher mountains exist on Heard Island and the Antarctic Territories.

6) How many states own parts of the Murray River?
(2) NSW and SA, The border between Victoria and NSW is on the Victorian side of the river which means that all of the river resides in NSW, the border does not run down the middle.

7) Which faiths can make the claim to be the largest in an Australian state or territory? (If you include all Christians as one faith?)
Christian.
Of course some Australians would claim that Australian Rules Football is there only true religion…sigh!

lol. I am a migrant, if that is what this is supposed to prove. My honest answer...

1) 2 ACT & NT.

2) We don't have one.

3) None. [Of course, if you take Biblicist's answer to number 5... that may become debateable.]

4) 1

5) Kosciusko.

6) No idea.

7) Christian.

I suppose I would have struck out, huh? No research done. Just the answers I would have given on the limited knowledge I have.
