  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just feel the need to inquire with my fellow brothers / sisters on this topic again. I've posted a couple of threads on crying when In worship / praying and at times I'm very confused by this sudden onset of emotions. It's been a fair amount of months since my last onset of emotions when in prayer / worship, but today I've experienced yet another rush of emotions when reading Scripture. It was sudden and unexpected, I didn't cry per say but was almost over come to the point where I was trying hold back my tears!

So, my question once again is, is this just coincidence or am I experiencing the holy spirit / God moving in my life?

The scripture I was reading when overcome with emotion was:

John: 19:30 -When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

I'm a normal, healthy 26 year old male with no history of mental health issues or depression.

Thanks For any Help in this matter!

The passage you were reading is a very powerful one, and can make any adult cry! I will be honest here: I am sensitive and I cry over things that would seem silly to others, but there are two things that never fail to make me shed tears is reading the Gospel and worshiping the Lord. It is just overwhelming sometimes, and there can be at times where the Holy Spirit emotionally and Spiritually moves you. I find it perfectly normal as I do that myself, so I highly doubt there is anything mentally wrong with you.:)

There is nothing wrong with emotion; I just don't see it as a main aim, but a possible by-product.

Yes, the truth of God in His Word is so wonderful that sometimes it is hard to take in.

Yes, it can be overwhelming at times; we just need to remember that emotion for its own sake doesn't necessarily mean lot. Rather, if we are praising God with our spirit, any emotion is more of a by-product rather than an end in itself. It's how we store the Word in our hearts that counts in the long term.
