Women in Demark have gained the right to go topless in public pools. (staff edit)

Why should this be an issue? Shouldn't women have the right to go topless anywhere that men can go topless?

I'm sure this is more of a cause for a Male to want to stick up for and promote

Id' also add to read the bible where Paul is clear about the modest aparrel women should wear - I think we all know that women's boobs turn men on sexually, any Christian woman doing so is inviting men to lust or fantasize sexually which isn't appropriate.

God will judge all this stuff in His courts - I'll continue to do what I know is morally right.

If you read the article, you know that this cause was promoted by women.

1) Paul addressed modesty in terms of verdressing, not underdressing. Actually public nudity was fairly common in much of the Roman Empire during Paul's time.

2) Men are responsible for their own actions. If they are fatasizing about sex, that isn't the woman's fault.

That doesn't at all mean that they personally wouldn't prefer it however. So it's really not an argument on that front either way, we can't know what they personally would want or not.

Politics are involved when it's not legal anywhere yet. For a male to just jump out with a bill to promote toplessness will most likely get them in hot water with female voters or possibly the majority of voters in their districts

That's probably why it was promoted by women in Denmark.

Not ironically, it's the man who happens to be defending this.

Back in the day (like Roman days) this happened all the time. And in the same country. Society and culture changes, and as things are right now, no. They shouldn't be.

Well, I'm a woman and I've always wondered why there was such a double standard when it comes to modesty. Why are women held to much stricter standards than men are? If a woman wishes to go topless on the beach, I don't see a problem with it. Men do it all the time, and no one says anything about it. If the men can do it, why can't the women?

I would assume it is because a woman's chest is considered more arousing for a man than a man's chest is for a woman.

The fact that a value judgment is made on something such as that shows the masculinity of our morality.

Well, would you walk into church topless? If not, why not?

Whatever the "standard" is, it is what it is - men are sexually turned on by that -
As far as I can see, God covered the body after the fall.
Scripture is clear about MODESTY - 1/2 nude is not modesty. Men lust after a woman's body (boobs, butt & frontal) so is causing people to lust or look sexually ok as a Christian? no it's not.

So I think we know better than to approve of this type of stuff whether the standard is fair or not; double or not.
There's lots of double standards - it still doesn't make something right on that basis alone. (ie. rebellion).

God created us sexual beings - and most women are NOT sexually excited when they see a male naked or shirtless... men on the other hand are visually stimulated sexually. This is just simple biology 101.
Since that's so, its our job as women to comply with Godly standards regarding sexual enticement. We know what turns guys on.

It depends on which society one is brought up in, if a person believes that it is wrong for women to go topless. In remote African villages the women are topless as the norm. It used to be the norm in many other communities of Africa until Westerners 'civilized' them from this practice.

Of course now, after so many years of puritan teaching, it would unleash a monster from within most men (in the U.S. at least) for Governments to legalize public toplessness for women. The porn industry's work has been too effective here.

Men don't go into church topless. That's not fair.

Whatever the "standard" is, it is what it is - men are sexually turned on by that -

Then let's say the standard is complete nudity. After all, the standard isn't exactly set in Scripture. Unless you want to count Genesis 4. I think it would be very difficult to make an argument of cultural relevance from Genesis, however.

As far as I can see, God covered the body after the fall.

Women lust after men.

I believe there was a study done that men find partial nudity more sexually stimulating than full nudity.

God created us sexual beings - and most women are NOT sexually excited when they see a male naked or shirtless... men on the other hand are visually stimulated sexually. This is just simple biology 101.

Not sexually excited at the sight of a NAKED male? I think you're assuming you're the rule here, not the exception. It isn't just men that have a sex drive, Nadiine.

Proverbs 5:19. As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love.

Obviously the bare female breasts (besides nursing a child) should be something for her husband and not everyone else.

As to the comment of it happening all over in the roman empire at the time of the early church - all kinds of unacceptable things were happening in the roman empire - that they happened by agreement of society doesnt mean its ok with God and where is the roman empire now? (hint the decline and end was due to rampant unchecked sexuality and embracement of open homosexuality as well as open prostitution and pedophilia)

Just want to point out that the verse you quoted said nothing about keeping the chest under wraps. It is simply telling the husband not to take his wife for granted. The verse says nothing about any sort of objective standard for modesty.
