Having traveled all across the United States, I've decided that North Florida/South Georgia is the BEST place to get independent and 'off-grid,' for the following critical reasons:

1.) N. FL/S. GA is part of the sun belt allowing natural energy (solar) harvesting.
2.) The weather is nice enough to grow food all year round, provided one uses a sturdy Greenhouse construction due to hurricanes
3.) Rainfall is plenty and this region sits on a high water table so the most important resource of all, water, is in abundance
4.) There is plenty of cheap undeveloped land around
5.) Everywhere else along the sunbelt is seeing droughts; California is sitting along the ring of fire; Cali, AZ, NM, TX are mostly dessert.
6.) While California is collapsing, on brink of bankruptcy, with people leaving en mass, Florida is flourishing, so the market is ripe for a new business venture which will be important for any prepper community.

Are you willing to sell your house and/or relocate to join a Christian 'Prepper Community?

Cheap land in Florida? I've heard of that before.

It would seem that where ever you can get away from the cities and populations, upwind if possible, and in an easily commutable distance, is a better alternative than most are in right now.

But as far as growing your own food, it seems to me that a Long Term Storage food supply is immediately preferable, so that your garden is not "raided", you can keep your doors and windows closed, and eat your bowl of porridge.

We can get through this.

We live in SC, just a few hundred miles from the area of which you speak.
We are good here with just a few negatives.
One is the heat. You will have two seasons... but the end of the first will just sort of cook away. You will have to start the second indoors.
Insects are horrible. We fight with squash and stink bugs daily. Almost everyone loses a lot of squash plants to vine borers.
This is our first year trying to become self sufficient in veggies. We have learned a lot and begin to apply it in the fall season.
I have purchased a cheap greenhouse structure for about 160 bucks. We will try to deal with bugs by putting all tomatoes under covers.
The SE is good for prepping.

I was born in Greenville...my parents met at Bob Jones University. I spent my SR. year there at their Academy. If things don't work out here, I was thinking about relocating to Ashville. Have you heard about vertical aeroponics? Or micro-green farming? That's the way to go...no soil, no herbicides/pesticides, 100% organic, and you can grow dozens of plants in a square foot.

You have to watch out for swamp land. Florida is expected to flood and there are storm surges. So you want to be at least 3 feet above ocean level.

The northern Florida /southern Georgia is exactly where I've been looking! However, the hurricanes and tropical storms are a real consideration. Good forest woody areas can cause a lot of damage as the trees fall... and I would like to have a mound or hill to dig a bunker into the side (if not a cave wink wink)... for tornadoes too...

I just don't know about an official prepper compound as that will make it a target, either now from government or taunters, or later from starving panicking population.

Land that is in a N-S line of the water that flows down through GA would be good. But anything far enough away from current cities is well, too far to build a viable roadway.
And then there's digging wells... and whether the county allows that any more. Probably fewer rules in GA?

I'd thought about a stretch of land for houseless mobile people... free stay like BLM (which is "non existent" on the east coast).

I think those who are so inclined might need a few sites and a schedule for themselves...somehow privately.... How can anyone know they aren't infiltrated by some snitch??? You certainly can't discuss it on the internet in any fashion (big brother in UT keeping 6000 transactions per person per second being recorded!)... as in the NT days when they drew designs in the sand, or in modern Middle Eastern countries where Christians used to wear the 'apple' pin (you are the apple of my eye)...

What really concerns me are those who accept Christ after the rapture, who are left behind but find Christ... and then need to hide. They don't have a clue!
