  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey before I answer, what qualifies as a single? Just any single song or does it have to be released specifically as a single. Either way I gotta agree with #3.

Released specifically as a single. Album tracks don't count.

1. Blue Monday - New Order
2. Windowlicker - Aphex Twin
3. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
4. This Charming Man - The Smiths
5. No one knows - QOTSA

The first four came easy enough but had to think about a fifth, thought I'd go for a fairly recent one. I don't normally take much notice of singles.

Well, a lot of the music I listen to is stuff I've heard on an old-school alternative program on one of the stations in my area, so I don't know what songs I've liked from that program were singles or not. But if I go with the ones I know were released, I'd have to say:

5. The Cure - Why Can't I Be You? (1987)

4. Peter Murphy - All Night Long (1987)

3. Soul Asylum - Somebody To Shove (1993)

2. Nine Inch Nails - Head Like A Hole (1989) [close tie: Skinny Puppy - Worlock (1992; featured on 1989 album Rabies)]

1. Comsat Angels - Independence Day (1980; reissued in 1984)
