Ok this thread is for the serious and brave-hearted. :)

I want you to list your top ten ALL-TIME favorite songs!!! No more than ten. none of this "oh, and let me just add another". No. TEN, my friends.

Try not to pick music popular with you at the present time....and the songs don't have to be Billboard's top ten. Pick YOUR top ten that ALWAYS always are your favorites. :)

Have fun.

"Try not to pick music popular with you at the present time" That makes it a bit harder, but here goes ...

1. Bad by U2 (far and away, this is the best song ever, even if 11 O'clock Tick Tock is currently my favoured song)
2. Walk On by U2
3. Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2
4. New Year's Day by U2
5. 11 O'clock Tick Tock by U2
6. Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World
7. Gloria by U2
8. Pride (In The Name Of Love) by U2
9. With Or Without You by U2.
10. One by U2

Honourable mention to Mysterious Ways and Love Is Blindness by U2, House Of The Rising Sun by The Animals, and Pushing Me Away by Linkin Park that all nearly became number ten.

Sapguy - 'Hey Axver .... Guess you're a U2 fan huh? LOL

I love their stuff and they are awesome in concert, but I didn't expect to see anyone fill up their top 10 with almost entirely one band.'

I guess you can see why I've been nicknamed the U2 Fanlad from U2 Fanland, can't you? Hehe. Although I love Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World, I must admit part of my motivation to put it in there was so that my Top 10 wasn't all U2. Considering what I've been listening to lately, I'm quite tempted to replace it with A Sort Of Homecoming by U2.

Oh, and if I were to include different versions of the same song on my Top 10, it would just be U2, and different live versions of Bad, 11 O'clock Tick Tock, Gloria, and With Or Without You.

By the way, Indigo Tree, I think Dirty Day has some great lyrics, but I have to disagree with placing it in the top ten of anything apart the top ten from Zooropa (which it actually has to make seeing there were only 10 tracks). I just don't think the music really backs it up until the end. Are you, perchance, basing your choice on a live performance of it? I hear it's fantastic live, but I haven't yet had the pleasure of being able to see it live for myself. *mental note to self: buy ZooTV Live From Sydney*

Hey, that's tough then!
I need one for different times / moods...

  • Jeff Buckley - Corpus Christi carol
  • Nirvana - Smells like Teen Spirit
  • Teenage Fanclub - Don't Look Back
  • Echobelly - Scream (or maybe Bellyache)
  • Stevie Wonder - I believe (when I fall in love)
  • Wannadies - You and Me
  • Beatles - Penny Lane
  • Marvin Gaye - Lets Get it On
  • The Smiths - This Charming Man
  • Matt Munro - He aint Heavy
These aren't my absolute favourites, but they're the ones I'd keep if I could only have 10 songs.

I'll probably change my mind tomorrow...
10 albums would have been more generous!

It is VERY hard not to put in your current favorites, based purely on their newness. I tried to go back through my all-time favs:

The Pixies - Gouge Away

Soundgarden - The Day I Tried to Live

Morrissey - Suedhead

Portishead - Roads

Nirvana - In Bloom

Echobelly - Dark Therapy

New Order - Fine Time

Timo Maas - Ubik

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Knock Me Down

Frank Sinatra - Summer Wind
