First of all, this is my list. By the title, I don't mean "nothing pre-95", what I mean is that this is my list, which fits my taste, and might be considered a bit odd by some people. Also, while you can feel free to post your own lists (whatever?), this thread is so I can get feedback on this list
. I won't bother elaborating much because for a lot of people my rambling will mean very little, so here is my list, in this particular order:
10. Immortal Technique - "Industrial Revolution".
> A nice rapper flexing his muscles- 'I'll leave you fulla clips like the moon blocking the sun'.
9. The Eagles - "One of these Nights".
> Nothing revolutionary, but I like it because I can listen to it over and over and not get sick of it.
8. AC/DC - "Thunderstruck".
> What can be said lmao?
7. Rahzel - "If your mother only knew".
> He gave beatboxers something new to toy with, and made beatboxing more than just something weird to people who didn't like it. IMO, this was when people started taking beatboxers (at least a little bit) more seriously.
6. Mos Def - "Beef".
> One of the most of truthful and down to earth verses ever written.
5. Michael Jackson - "Leave me alone".
> I'm running out of ways to say 'this song is really good', but this is. Trust me
.
4. Michael Jackson - "Tabloid Junkie".
> Best chorus ever, IMO.
3. R Kelly - "I believe I can fly".
> If you're you laughing, shut up
. Being cliched doesn't make it any less of a great song.
2. Big L - 98' freestyle (parts 1 and 2).
> Lyrically, they aren't they great- they have a few nice lines between them, but Big L was a testament how style improved an artist tenfold. R.I.P Big L...
1. Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Common - "Respiration".
> Gritty, raw, amazing, so many good things!!!
Ok, that's it, tell me what you think of my list, what is good, what doesn't deserve to be there, whatever
.
