  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

too weird?

i don't have a s.o. to bounce names off, so i thought i'd ask other parents. :sorry: i'm due soon, having a girl, and i want to name her amandi (uh-mondi)- it means rejoice. i'm still not sure i'm keeping her, cause i don't have a job and i'm living with my disabled mom. but i like the name and if i do keep her i think i'd like to use. does it sound ok?

First of all, bless you for considering adoption:). I know many people who have been blessed with this wonderful gift.

Second of all, Amandi is not a weird name. it is rare and unusual though. It's not my personal preference, but I wouldn't consider it weird. Moonbeam and Apple - now those are WEIRD.

One thing to consider is that it might be hard for her in school since it's not pronounced like it's spelled. Other than that, she's your child and you can name her what you want to. My kids have difficult names to say the least. LOL

my mom thinks it sounds better as a-man-dee, but that sounds bad to me. i don't want her to have any unnecessary struggles, i'm afraid she'll have enough because i'm young and unmarried. i'll look at a few names before i make a decision, i still have over a month to decide.

I personally love the name!!! It's unusual and sounds nice....she just trains them to say her name- after about 1 day the class/people aroudn her will learn how to pronounce it-later in life when she says my name is (correct pronunciation) most people will get it....you always have those that just can't pronounce names even if you repeat it 18 times-but they're dumb so I wouldn't worry about it LOL...great choice of name IMO.

of the names you listed, I think Rosalyn and Lenora are very pretty. But if you have your heart set on Amandi then use it. If someone calls her something different all you have to do is correct them. My mom and sister have to do this all the time because my sisters name is Brianna, last part NOT said like 'auhna'...it's anna..ya know like that oldest Duggar boy's wife:)
