I have become closer to God in the last 18 months of my life than I ever have before. (Raised catholic, nearly athiest for awile and now "Saved") I have really tried to turn over every area of mylife to Jesus and have quite humbly heard an answer. My relationship with God is center stage in my life for the first time (as it should be) and now I am finding that I am negelecting other areas of my life.....#1 being my college work......All I want to do is goto church, go to bible studies, read the Good Book, spend time with my family, etc... I feel this calling in my life but am afraid that to much negletion of other things is going to lead me to some very painful times. All the earthly things my life used to focus on no longer matter as much, so to speak.

What do you do? I have prayed about this quite a bit and have not really come to any conclusions. The message that keeps coming back from God is "Follow me."

Peace in Christ,
-Brian

Well, you should keep on top of your college work, but do not worry about being TOO enthusiastic for the Lord. There is no such thing. I have had those times when I am wholly consumed with the Lord and His word, and to be honest, those are the happiest times of my life. So enjoy it, love it, and prolong it!

Rejecting the things of this world will not lead you to heartache, but a happiness that few will ever reach.

Remember this:

God wants you to be "in this world, but not of this world". I know that sounds unusual, and can confuse some, but I'll try my best to explain.

It is important to remember that God wants his children to enjoy their time here, and the blessings he has given you. He wants you to experience all that life has to offer in its fullness. Thats school, sports, fun, friends, family...etc. To be in this world.

However, he does not want you to be of this world. In other words, don't only consume yourself with earthly things. This means too much of anything this world has to offer.

Remember to always keep your eyes facing upward, and your focus on heaven, but don't forget that being closer to God does NOT mean your time on earth should be squandered. He wants your heart to follow Him, and you are to live your life through Him...but he also wants you to live your life.

I hope some of this makes sense. But that is the true balancing act we all go through each day. We try our hardest to live in, but not of this world.

Too much to either side of this will wrongfully neglect the other side, as you already know. And Our God would never want His beloved children to miss out on the goodness this world he created has to offer. He just wants you to recognize all the bad this world has to offer, and pass on it.

God Bless you, my friend. Your heart will work it out in due time.

Robb

YOURE SOO LUCKY!!! lol You have God's calling on your heart and that's the finest gift you can have in your life. I'm also a new college student, so I'm finding it hard to attend chruch every Sunday, even though we have Protestant and Catholic serves on campus. I find a lot of inspiration through prayer and coming to this site, but I wouldn't find such love for God as a bad thing. If it's affecting your college work, maybe you should think about things. Maybe God is giving you a calling into ministry instead of a degree in something else? God understands that are certain things that you need to do, but I also understand why you want to focus on God instead of this world. VERY GOOD!! lol We shouldn't be of this world remember. But decide where you might have your true calling and then decide that if you do want to succeed in college, you are going to have to do the work.
