How come the saint of the day thread got closed? Anyways, tomorrow (Tues July 1/Paouna 22) is the feast of one of my favorite saints, St. Moses the Black. St. Moses was a murderer, robber, and fornicator. He went to rob St. Isidore's cell, and when he was leaving, St. Isidore called him and told him that he'd forgotten something, remembering Christ's command to give your cloak if they take your tunic. St. Moses asked him why, and after St. Isador explained St. Moses stayed, learned, and was baptised. St. Moses was plauged with thoughts of fornication, and confessed 17 times in one night. St. Isidore took him up onto the roof of his cell, and told him to look towards the west, and he saw the demons warring against the saints. He then told him to look towards the East, where he saw the angles comforting the saints in much greater numbers. He was comforted, and progressed. He was selected to be ordained a priest, and sent to Alexandria. He was refused there, but waited paitently outside for days. When the Pope saw that he was patient, and that he was not angry for it, he saw that he was worthy and ordained him. He was martyred when his monastary was sacked. I appologize for any mistakes, that's the best I can remember off the top of my head from sermon's I've heard since I can't find an entry for him in the Chronicals of the saints. If anyone remembers his story better, please correct me. Since so many of us here are converts, he's a great saint to keep in mind.
