To vote or not to vote, does it matter ?

This topic came up in another thread and I thought some of the answers were interesting.

I think every person who is eligible to vote should vote, after all, we do live in a democracy.
Did you vote ?
Was a vote for Trump a good vs evil vote ?
Did your vote make a difference ?
Did prayer for Trump to win make a difference?
Did you pray for Trump to win?

From scripture we have this Daniel 2:21, and this Romans 13:1

While I was unable to vote this past year, I believe that voting does count. It may seem like it doesn't make a difference, but so many people don't vote because they feel that way, and that leads to big changes in the results. Instead of praying for a particular candidate to win, I prayed that God would provide my country with a leader who would turn our country back towards Him and who would lead in such a way that would help the country. Personally, I didn't agree with either Trump or Clinton, but I think we have to remember that God is in control of all things, and he allowed Trump to become President of the United States. While it's too soon to tell, maybe America will be better off for it, or maybe it won't. Either way, the Lord's will be done.

After observing the blatant hypocrisy of both political parties, I actually am thinking the Christian traditions that do not vote out of principle have a point. Anyway, to answer your questions.

1. Yes I voted. I made my decision on election day.
2. Of the Trump voters I knew, some did consider their vote good versus evil. Most however considered it lesser of two evils.
3. No my vote did not make a difference. I knew beforehand my minor party candidate was not going to win. And he did not.
4. Prayer makes a difference.
5. No. Neither did I pray for my minor party candidate to win.

As far as 'should' goes, not everyone who is able to vote should vote.
If a person doesn't see names, only parties, they should not vote.
If they don't like the Constitution they should not vote, and they should move.
Those who vote illegally should be jailed, and if they are illegal aliens, deported.

I'm not an absolutist on this. There is a point beyond which I will not vote. But I don't think we were there last election. I think it was a case of good v. evil, and I did vote for Trump. Did my vote make a difference? The electoralists would probably say no, as I am in NY. But God knows what good my voting did, and surely my mouth had even more impact. I believe that prayers matter, then and now.

Did you vote ? Yes.
Was a vote for Trump a good vs evil vote? time will tell.
Did your vote make a difference? No, but I voted Green so I knew that it would not matter.
Did prayer for Trump to win make a difference? Probably not.
Did you pray for Trump to win? No.

I do think that it is important that people vote, particularly at the local level. I have a friend who lost a district judge race by five or six votes a couple years back.

I totally agree, so much focus is on the presidential races. The local races, especially judges, are very important. Look at all the activist judges we have nowadays. Sometimes I wonder how on earth did this person become a judge ?
