When our eye-sight grows dim, when the light of day has lost its brightness: when the voices of family, and friends, seem to be but a whisper, when music, and the chirping of birds has lost its peaceful tones; your getting old.
In old age, the power of reasoning, memory, and thinking, grow dull. The hands begin to tremble; legs grow weak; hair becomes as snow; as our afternoon naps grow longer. We can bear little, because the trivial things of life quickly sink our patience.
For all of you who are 55 or older, life can be described in three words, "Patch, Patch, Patch; everything needs to be patched up."
Solomon writes, "Remember now the Creator in the days of your youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when you shall say, I have no pleasure in them."
The vanities of life, and pleasures of youth, have become the shadows of ten thousand yesterdays. The youth of today need to have their own foolish actions; conduct: absurdities; sensual gratifications and immoral life-styles put in check.
Know you not that God will bring all these to judgement?
Ecc.11:9, "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment. Therefore remove sorrow (vexation) from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity."
Solomon warns, Fear Him who is on high, fear Him before the, "Silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be shattered at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust (man's body) return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."
How soon we can be separated from this life. Death lurks at the door, it cares nothing for age, wisdom, strength, or wealth. Every minute of every day it lies in wait, as a leopard stalks, and swiftly strikes at its pray; and so is death.
The young are warned to put in check their vanities, and pleasures. To look to themselves, and manage both body and soul. Let not your minds be lifted up in pride; nor let your anger remain, so that the sinful passion of life may be reigned in. When you are young, live for God.
Is it to late for the elderly? No, Jesus Christ will meet us where we stand. Its sad to be young, and to quickly find you have grown old, having wasted away your life. So herein is the question, "Have you finally figured out how to love God?"
1 John 4:10, "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Ver.16, "And we have known and believed that love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."
Jesus Christ paid the price, suffering death for all. This offering of life is for all who come to Him in repentance, faith and love. He died for millions on that one cross; a cross of love; sacrifice; pain; and suffering. We need to live, and show that we have confidence in our salvation.
He sends us as messengers of the Gospel, a light for all the world to see. He has granted to us the highest privilege, and honor: that being to serve and love Him.
