Why have i fallen victim
to such a terrible affair
when it is my mother
who is sick
Why is it that if you don't survive
I know i won't either?
Why is it that you sickness
is killing me mom?
I wanted to be there for you
SO i could be apart of your life
But once you got the news
you shut me down and closed me out
so now mom as i write this poem
I sit looking at you
as you lay in your hospital bed
I wonder...are you going to be one of those ppl
who are able to say,"i am a survivor of cancer'?
And i wonder mom
did you shut me out
to save me the hurt and pain
or did you shut me out
because like me
you don't know who to turn to?
Well mommy this might not mean much
coming from a teenage girl
but no matter what happens
I will always be there for you
and no matter what happens
I will always love you
So mommy whether you let me be there for you
physically or not
just know that in my own special way
I will help you
So you don't have to fight this battle on your own
Through the good and the bad
I will be there for you
Because I love you too much
To leave you by yourself in this world
ANd i love you too much
to let you lose faith in yourself
and lose faith in God
