hey guys, just wondering.... should christians listen to secular music? What's ya'll take on that delicate subject

I think you should listen to whatever makes you happy. I, personally only listen to Contemporary Christian music. I find it uplifting and it really helps me when I'm having a bad day. It keeps my mind on God, where it should be.

Secular music just doesn't do it for me anymore.I listen to praise and worship.I think it is totally up to the individual though.Certain music is not appropriate.
Music about sex,violence,etc.IMHO.

Tough to draw the line between secular or Saintly.....

Does the instrument decide? or
Does the Lyrics decide? or
The Singer?
The COmposer?
The Tempo?
The Rhythm?

Tough Call but the Lord will help us to decide...

I was just wondering, though, say you have a favorite artist like MercyMe or Crystal Lewis or Stacie Orrico, and he or she or they make it known to the world that their inspiration is a secular artist like Britney Spears, 50 Cents, or Ozzy, should we stop listening to them or should we eat the meat and spit out the bones? JW.............

Lindell Cooley-Brownsville revival.
Don Potter-Morning Star worship.
Darlene Zsech(?)-Hillsongs.
Third Day.
Passion.
Nicole C. Mullin.
Bebo Norman.
etc.........................

no. just because they get their inspiration from persons like that you should not simply stop listening to them. personally I don't really think one should care what's going on with the artist themself. I dunno even know who most of the people are I like listening to. All I know is I like the music. the music itself is what carries me away. not the words or the singer. the music.

I believe some secular music is okay to listen to...I remember someone saying, if God wouldn't listen to it with you, you prolly shouldn't listen to it.
