  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I would suggest you also address this to Buddhists.

And I guarantee you that their answers are worse than the one given by Creationist.

I consider any answer that's not within 95% of reality a bad answer.
Take the age of the Earth for example;

Actual age: 4.500.000.000 years
Creationist : ............6.000 years

Percentage of correctness is less than 0.000134%.
I really wouldn't care if a muslim is 0.000001% more or less accurate than a creationist.

What would Mendeleev's answer have been if asked 'How many elements in the Periodic Table'?

( And I promise I won't bring up Pluto --- ;) )

Whatever his answer would be, it would be wrong if it wasn't right. Einstein also made mistakes. That's why science works because it improves the answers when new information or new testing methods become available.
Unlike religion that takes 1 answer written by very old, uneducated and ignorant man and stick with that answer for all eternity despite evidence that contradict it. You know, kinda like how the Earth is not flat despite what the bible says.

I know you love to mention science makes mistakes AV. But that very idea is the reason why it works so incredibly well. Scientists try to disprove others and find out the truth. There is no dogma to accept old standards if reality contradicts with it.

Learning new information is the keyword, not preaching old information.

The creationist explanation is 100% wrong in every detail. How much worse can you get than that?

There is no Creationism in Buddhism. I also recall reading that the Buddha was obstinately silent on the issue of origins.

I believe they claim it's "beyond our understanding" --- which is wrong.
Hebrews 11:3a said:
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God...

I don't think Buddhists put much truck in your religious texts, AV ;).
Why not?

We're not part of their Fourfold [whatever] or Eightfold Path?

That's why the Buddhists on this forum are confusing to me.

They don't accept us for what we are, and they also favor science over anything.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they are Buddhist in name only.

Back in my days, it was "cool" to have your own guru, or be a Buddhist monk, or whatever.

He would have said "At least 60."

And he would have been totally, totally right.

For the same reason Jews don't put much truck in the Qu'ran, or Navajo Indians the Kitab-i-Aqdas, or [religious group] the [unrelated religious text]: a group only believes in its religious texts.

Would you expect me to treat the Bible in the same way you do?

Oh, don't listen to Hespera. She can be forward at times ^_^.

It still is. One of my best friends is Buddhist ;).

Do you even know (or care) what the genial idea of Mendelejev was? Do you even know why the Periodic Table is called that?

'No' to both questions.

That is what I meant. No answer is worse than an answer.
Hardly. If you truly don't know the explanation for something, then no answer (or "I don't know") is the logical choice. If you don't have an answer, don't try to pretend otherwise. That's why I dislike Creationism: they act as if "Goddidit" is on par with established scientific knowledge.
